    Your welcome Megan, sometimes I think in my mind I am too slow and methodical and I can put myself to sleep and then I see 54 minutes and I think no one in the public you tube space is going to watch that, My Airline Pilot students love my briefings and I usually think, “man, I would rather hear someone else drone on than me because I put myself to sleep”, but it is hard for me to just give a down and dirty, no detail brief. The feedback I get though from students doesn’t make me change too much. Glad you got value from this...

    Really helpful video Al; I'm uaing your video to get to grips with the aerowinx PSX I've purchased. I have the PMDG QOTS2 already. I'm not sure if you're in contact with Hardy, the sim developer, but I think he would definitely advertise your videos; your videos are better than CBTs that are available freely on the internet.

    Thank you Nim, I purchased the Aerowinx PSX last week, so I am looking forward to getting it. It looks quite good, I do think PMDG is very good, but not with non-normals. I did join the forum board and had a brief chat with Hardy asking him a question on how accurate the non-normals were. Glad you find value in my video tutorials...

    Very informative tutorial again. I have a question regarding the freighter versions, is the hydraulic systems use to operate the cargo doors and which system is use . Thanks again

  • @subsonicflighttraining

    @subsonicflighttraining

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Tonforr, your welcome, glad you still see value in these videos, the lower cargo doors and all equipment on a freighter are powered by the Ground Handling Bus, which is powered only on the ground by APU 1 or EXT 1, if both are available it uses EXT 1. The Side Cargo Door, Nose Cargo Door, Lights, and all Cargo Loading Equipment are powered by the Main Deck Handling Bus, which is powered by EXT 2 or APU 2, only on the ground. If you have a single power source like EXT 1 and 2 hooked up and AVAIL, you only want to power the jet with EXT 1, so EXT 2 is AVAIL, this keeps the Main Deck Handling Bus powered so they can load cargo, if you were to select EXT 2 ON, you would disable the MDHB. If you start the APU, and have APU 1 and 2 AVAIL, now you you can select EXT 2 and APU 2 being AVAIL would keep the MDHB powered so they can load. If loading complete on the upper deck, doesn’t matter, now you can select EXT 1 and 2 ON with single power source...

    Amazing videos, learning so much about 747, keep up the amazing content. do you guys two engine taxi ever ? For fuel saving, i would imagine if you do it would be on eng 1 and 4? Lookin at the hydronic given nose and body steering is on the system 1 and and main break is on system 4. Just wondering if two engine taxing is common practice on 747s or if Boeing suggests against it. Cheers

  • @subsonicflighttraining

    Thanks B3, we never did 2 engine taxi, only 3 engine at certain weights as I recall, not anticipating any tight turns or 180's. Boeing does not address it in the Flight Crew Training Manual, they leave it up to the operator. I do not think they would recommend it at all. Landing with 2 engines out on the same side, we could clear the runway with a high speed, but may have trouble with a 90 degree turn and would consider towing rather than trying to taxi with 2 out on 1 side. @@b3njroverr67 That would be a good one for Non-Normals at the Patreon Full Captain Level as one of the monthly bonus videos, which consists of either systems or NNP, non-normal procedures. I will put that on the list. The only free videos I am putting out now would be the Livestream for the B747 FTD-PC FS course. Patreon will have the recorded Live Streams, Level Perks, and is extremely cheap ($10 or less/month for 6 months depending on level)

    So u have brakes , and steering , if on auto the demand pumps will kick on since the engine pumps are off , aux pumps are only used for ground operations

    Somehow I missed responding to this, sorry about that. 1 and 4 are for ground operations only and power brakes and steering only, isolating all the other components from operating with the Demand Pump in AUX. Once Engines 1 and 4 are started, AUX is disabled and the EDP takes over for all components…
