I'm watching 36 years later ,what a fantastic meeting and excellent track. I saw Bobby Ball drive a formula 1 stock car around here in 1986.We too lost our speedway track in Bristol back in the early 80's also home to Bristol Rovers FC ,now an IKEA and a Tesco store.😡

Part of history that can never return

Although I went to belle Vue has a Halifax Dukes fan it was really special the zoological gardens next door we never won but it was great speedway atmosphere ❤😊

Used to enjoy our odd visit to the Shay back in the day although I do remember crying as a child when a meeting was 'fogged off'. Amazing track with immense banking and unforgiving steel safety fence. Happy days.

Could you put it on blue ray or DVD if so I would buy a copy

Currently trying to locate the original VHS tape. It's in my loft somewhere. The quality you see here is from a DVD that I made from the tape around 12years ago. If I can find the tape hopefully I can get the thing digitised so that it's easier to record on to a disc without loss of quality.

@@staechmann glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the offer. Will be in touch as soon as I find the original tape to discuss what can be done with it. The second part would mostly be the sad demolition of the stadium and some footage of the track going in at Kirky Lane dog stadium. Cheers!😉

A truly iconic stadium and a big part of my Speedway and F1 Stock Car support was spent at Hyde Road. Thank you so much for sharing this footage. After 33 years, Hyde Road lives on. X
