We like to cut the artery in the gills and bleed them out. Quick kill and the filets aren't full of blood, they end up all white/clear. Thanks for the tips on fishing these hybrids!

Does it make a difference in taste quality? I've always gone straight to the campfire or stove (lived walking distance from the catch) and never had to transport the meat

I have a question about cleaning fish on the boat. if there is a creel limit and or size limit and you don't have a game warden on the boat aren't you leaving yourself open for a citation? How are you going to prove size, species and creel limt?

So if you are done fishing and heading to the ramp can you stop before reaching the ramp and filet them then and discard the remains in the lake?

@@delmerspencerjr.5350 I would like to know the same. ODWC has VERY mixed signals on this. At McGee Creek Lake there are signs at the ramp to throw remains back into the lake. But that's the only lake I've seen that. Haven't ever ran across a definitive answer on this. I mostly crappie fish. That being said. When I'm done fishing for the day and go home to clean 25 fish or whatever I then have to go dig a deep hole in the yard somewhere to burying the remains so my dogs don't dig them up. Gets kind of old. Would love to be able to just filet at the lake and toss them back in.

Lot's of wasted good meat after filet.

I wouldn't advise you to show up at a Texas boat ramp with just filets, I don't think you'll be able to find the right words if a game warden looks at your catch.😂😂😂😂😂

how to they know the identification of the fish if they fillet and do not keep carcass? how do they know it is a legal fish

Most anglers will write the fish and the date they caught them on the outside of the bag. This helps ID the fish, but also helps the angler know how soon to eat their catch.

2 4in 300d whole thing head and scales off for like 30min let sit for ten so good stuff with onion lemon tom ect. may have to go 35 min.

what a waste of good fishmeat!
