    Love to catch the hybrids here in NC. Not many stripers left around us. I had no idea the amount of work that it takes to makes this fish a reality. Awesome video! Much respect to those producing these fine fish and to those who made this educational video.

    Why doesn't central Oklahoma have more hybrids in body's of water other than Hefner, Overholser, Canadian river?

  • @okwildlifedept

    @okwildlifedept

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hybrids have been caught in the OKC River, keep in mind that that body of river is a Close to Home fishery, so special regulations apply. Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser have plenty of Hybrids. Both lakes are on stocking rotations, but also get a steady population of fish when Canton releases water and fish find their way down the river.

    Do the hybrids reproduce, can they reproduce?

  • @okwildlifedept

    @okwildlifedept

    Жыл бұрын

    No, they just eat and grow, and that is one of the reasons why biologists like to use them in lakes.

    @@okwildlifedept ok I'm in Pittsburgh Pa and we have them in our rivers but I didn't know that they were bred they way you demonstrated. I heard they were but I thought it was a rumor. Anyways I caught one almost 5 years ago to this day. My cousin just reminded me of this the other day. It was the most violent fish I ever caught. Thanks for the video and the reply.

    I like hybrid fishing but after watching this I keep thinking how from the white bass point of view humans must seem like omnipotent (and slightly perverted) gods...I like it

  • @BayJoua

    I still think hybrids spawn together or else I would of never caught so many females full of eggs and male full of sperms.

  • @bombofbombe

    I read something about how they still undergo spawn migration even though they're mostly sterile. Apparently a small number are fertile and will spawn with white bass.

  • @scottwhaley4585
    @scottwhaley4585 Жыл бұрын

    So if you take all the males or a lot of the males at the white mass, does that not reduce the population of the white bass or is there just so many white bass males that it doesn’t matter how many you take?

  • @okwildlifedept

    @okwildlifedept

    Жыл бұрын

    You are right, biologists would not take males from a population that is prone to depletion due to harvest. And the amount they take is usually a lot smaller than most angler's harvest.

    What is the real reason for doing this if God didn't create them than maybe they shouldn't be. Also help abolish the recreational fishing licenses/permission slips we all have a god-given right to fish !
