Hybrid drumming: electronic drums + acoustic cymbals

Back in the '80s, when electronic drums were all the rage, drummers often played hybrid kits: Some had acoustic kicks, others had acoustic snares, and most had acoustic cymbals. Today, high-quality drum sampling, plus sophisticated software instruments, means that you can incorporate believable kicks, snares, and cymbals if you want to go full-on electronic.
I occasionally like to set up my Tama Techstar pads from the '80s with some acoustic cymbals. It's definitely fun to play electronic drums with the pads in the same general positions as my acoustic drums, and it's great to have all the nuances of cymbals available.
But... The older pads lack sensitivity.
So a hybrid setup with a drumKAT can be a bit more satisfying. Here are a few short videos with both kinds of hybrid kits. Though I sometimes dial up acoustic drum kit samples, I have more fun playing with percussion sounds.
Equipment:
-Tama Techstar pads
-Zildjian cymbals
-DW kick pedals
-Alternate Mode eKIC triggers
-Alternate Mode drumKAT
-Logic Pro (for recording and some of the samples)
-Orchestral Tools Rimba (for the sounds in the second video sequence)
-Fujifilm X100V camera
-Final Cut Pro
