Hybrid Christmas Cards from Scraps and "Stuff"

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a fun, easy little scrap card format that is a cross between a book bind card and easel card. They are quick and fun to make, and use a surprising amount of scraps. Included is a little ribbon trick, an update on how packing is going, and how I have my film lighting set up...

I have so much fun after Christmas playing with all the leftover bits. This design is a perfect way to use up all those pieces. Then I can spend the time I have before Christmas doing the “special” cards for my family. I love creating something special for them AND I love creating a stash that my daughter-in-love can send to her friends and family. She does SO much for everyone, and this is one thing I can do to make her life easier! Thanks so much.

I love the bookbinding fold and have made several. That you made it an easel card made it extra special--with scraps, no less--especially so the recipient can display it throughout the season. I see someone else had the same idea I did of inking where the fold would be to disguise it a little. Isn't it nice to learn from each other? You teach me something in every video. Your packing should make it easier (moving is never easy) to move. At least you know all your stuff will arrive safe, sound, and organized. Well done!!!

You are ahead of me Nina - I still have 20 to go. My best advice on moving is start early and buy boxes that will stack safely rather that a mish mash of all different sizes. It is hard to find spots to put packed boxes while you are getting ready to move, and if they can be stacked against a wall in layers it is very helpful.

Hi there Julia, may I say first well done for reaching over 5000 subscribers. 🎈✨🎉 It is wonderful that others are finding your channel in this cardmaking industry. One thing that I love about your videos Julia, is that you are not designing cards for a specific company, and you are using the products that are in your studio, and obviously products that you love. All your cards are very festive and beautiful. This isn't the first time that you have made an easel card, and you make it look so easy, yet to look at them they seem detailed and complicated. Needless to say, that I have never made an easel card in all the years that I have been making cards. I must confess that I am often saying spoonerisms that sometimes takes me by surprise, but it does sound funny. Wibbon reave (Ribbon weave) would have rolled off my tongue so easily, and without realising what I have said until it was of course spoken... LOL!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Julia, you seem to have your packing under control, and you have a wonderful system... well done you! How many drawers of flower stamps have you packed??? Your studio is starting to look a little bare now with things all packed away in boxes. I was very interested with your lighting and camera set up, and yes, the new LED lights don't get hot. I have a LED lightbulb in my lamp, and I was able to touch it after turning the light off, because I needed to change the bulb. You couldn't do that with the old light bulbs could you? Julia, I pray that you continue to make great progress as you pack and move boxes over to your new 'interim' home. As always God's blessings, love and hugs. Gloria 🥰🌻❤

G'Day Gloria - Thank you and for all your support of My Channel over the last 2 years. One thing I am not, is a commercial artist. I just like to putter around in the studio and share ideas. And, since I have stopped buying craft supplies (except adhesives of course) you will be seeing me shop my stash for time to come. I have never heard the term spoonerisms what a fun mouthy word that is!! It that anything like footinmouth??? LOL Thank you for sharing, it made me laugh! Personally, I think those little bloopers are fun so I don't edit them out. Yes I packed all 12 Flower drawers. I have decided to set up some giveaways and perhaps a store to get rid of my overflow. These stamps need to see some ink not be locked away in a drawer. I didn't think I would like LED at first, but now I am a big fan. Jon put some high intensity shop lights on stands in his automotive shop after a nasty burn off regular bulbs, and they work extremely well. The light is a bit different for photos tho, hense the pink tissue paper. Have a wonderful week full of Blessings! Julia

@@SeniorSusieStamps Hi Julia, I have known about spoonerisms since I was a child as I would randomly say them often, and it is something that is difficult to try and avoid by stopping yourself before you speak. Also, it is equally difficult to try and say spoonerisms as it would be too planned. Spoonerisms is an error in speech in which corresponding consonants, vowels and morphemes are switched. Honestly it does sound really funny... LOL! 🤣🤣This phenomenon is named after an ordained minister William Archibald Spooner as apparently, he would speak like this. Don't you just love this trivia and learning something new?! Have a wonderful day, and happy spoonerisms... 🙃
