    When Bang PD answered the “hostile takeover” question it is not as black and white as the definition of those words. The reality his he is a longtime acquaintance of Lee Soo Man and respects him. As a chairman and founder of his own company himself from the ground up when it was nothing and in debt, no one understands that struggle more than they do. So when he said that it is not right that the board of directors who consists of Soo Man’s nephew in law and friends tried to make deals without Soo Man’s knowledge he meant it. He see’s it as a huge disrespect and stab in the back towards the man that built SM. That is why he said it is easy propaganda for the co-CEOs who will be ousted if HYBE gets the voting control. The governing body knew that Lee wanted to sell his stake in 2021 so they acted to try and save their own positions in the company by offering up SM to Kakao with new shares and convertible bonds that are questionable. Who is really the hostile one??

    Really. Lee Soo Man who outspokenly known to said “Anywhere, but not HYBE”. And rejected Hybe’s offer early on. They personally are definitely not in any good relationship for sure. Including all the years Bighit had to suffer, because of direct sabotage and influence SM did. Lee had no choice, and HYBE did the business they’ve been patiently waiting for. Simple.

    A hostile takeover is a takeover in management and sharepower not agreed upon by the rest of the shareholders and management. LSM had no management powers at the time of his share sale, and it seems current leaders and some shareholders do not approve their incoming. By definition, what HYBE is doing is hostile takeover except that they want a majority share giving them management rights and not full control (as of yet). This entire interview was hostile towards the currently growing KPOP market, a market which HYBE themselves continue to benefit from while we have to listen to the lie that apparently the market is dying and needs some kind of false idol white knight savior to come to its rescue in the form of a money hungry monopolistic multi-billion dollar company. If you want to sell a story, be the wolf that you are and don't wear sheep clothing to try and impress us with your humility and altruism.

    I've always appreciated that Hybe does things by the books. You really can't say the same for SM. Their whole angle is reliant on propaganda and swaying the media and public by misrepresenting things. Their governance is rotten to the core. The artists have never been SM's priority. For those who know about these companies and how they've treated their artists over the years, they'll know that Hybe allows artists autonomy and creative freedom, whereas SM treats its artists as money bags and puppets. SM claims that Hybe will create a monopoly while not mentioning that the other agency Kakao, which SM wants instead of Hybe, is way closer to an actual monopoly as it covers so many vital services in Korea from banking to streaming platforms to tech and mobile networking etc. It appears that SM is scrambling because they have a lot to hide. The top management was involved in so much corruption and they're trying to pin it on the SM founder alone, when they've all been just as bad. It looks like they're scared that Hybe taking over will bring all their corruption to light.

SM founder found an outsider who actually cares about the business and believes on the business principles and be able to innovate the ways so that the company can survive and flourish more and that guy is BangPDnim.

    HYBE itself has always touted the growth of kpop and BTS, how its growing and expanding and controlling more of the market, yet when they want to acquire control of a company that would give them a huge portion of the industry in monopolistic action, suddenly kpop is this dying animal on its last leg as a market. HYBE themselves recently posted the record profits of every major kpop label which continue to this day, there is zero proof that what he is saying is true in any capacity.

    @@yukitochan21 Capitalism is a competition. A strong group absorbs another group. It is similar in any country. The problem of market monopoly is similar in any country. The problem is not the size of power. It's a structure of power. If Hybe is monopolistic or hierarchical they are dangerous. However, Hybe's label operates quite independently. All labels are guaranteed to be autonomous. It would be a problem if there were no such autonomy. It's like all Hollywood movies are becoming similar. I think Hybe is aiming for a structural platform rather than uniformity of music. This is similar to building roads, port facilities, airports, factories, etc. for the country to develop.yup. That's what I understand.

  • @yukitochan21

    @yukitochan21

    Жыл бұрын

    @@lily7001 Then you should look at reality to understand the situation instead of listening to the words of someone who has a reason to make you believe otherwise. Fully acquired labels do not and cannot act on their own, if this was the case, then HYBE would have no need to restructure leadership in those labels, however that is not the case. Board of Directors and CEO positions are changed accordingly to the interests of the main company, and someone like BandPD can claim "well I don't pay much attention to what they do" well because that is true, first of all BangPD is the creative director of HYBE, he does not do the business side, of course he personally would have no reason to oversee the running of other labels and only work on creative schedules. However. ofc the leaders installed by HYBE work only in the interest of HYBE and therefor they have direct control at all times and are completely aware and active in the decision making process of every company they acquire and run. Just saying any words that you want does not change reality, HYBE is monopolistic, they wish to control 80% of the current market with the use of SM, that is not disputable because you "feel" a certain way. So save your words, if HYBE wins this. it will be trouble for the whole market, that is not a question, simply a truth.

The traditional big 3 were called that way because they have decades of producing multiple successful artists who defined their generations. All this guy did was leverage his one successful group to buy other labels and groups. It's like he knows he won't strike gold again like he did with BTS, so instead of trying to compete, he's just going to buy his competition instead.

    The capital inflow from the initial public offering and strategic collaboration with Naver has begun to drive K-pop's structural growth. The old system began to disappear after the emergence of Hive and JYP, and is actually more democratic than the Western system. Although there is Saudi money behind Kakao, Hive will eventually become the largest shareholder of SM. With a genius strategist like Bang Si-hyuk at the helm, the next chapter of K-pop will surely be even more brilliant. This is because it is absorbing music resources from all over the world and maintaining a crisis-based management environment.

    I think SM artists have a very big advantage if HYBE implements how they work in SM's management which basically means the management won't be able to earn the money they are earning now on their artists hardwork. SM's management said that HYBE will give all their best songs to their artists (they are clearly pointing it at BTS) and their artists will get bad songs but who is gonna tell them artists under HYBE work for their music, the music is not handed to them. KPOP's current foray into the United States is reminiscent of the Mongols' conquest of the European continent in the 12th century... In popular music, American pop was truly an empire with a stronghold that no one could challenge. However, over the past 10 years, KPOP has been slowly looking for an opportunity to attack the U.S. market, where American pop has a stronghold that seems unbreakable. The first attack was BTS. In fact, BTS was only the vanguard of the KPOP offensive. However, the power of BTS, the main force of the first offensive, was unexpectedly strong. BTS's power was so powerful that the United States thought that BTS was the main force of KPOP... BTS's advance into the United States was so powerful. Due to this attack, the American music market, excluding mainstream pop, lost all non-mainstream pop markets such as Asian and Latin. However, BTS' selection offensive eventually slowed down for 22 years due to member military service issues. While the KPOP offensive slowed down, American pop changed the Billboard chart counting method to prepare for the second major KPOP offensive, but in the end, KPOP's first major attack began. The main force of KPOP's first base offensive was the KPOP girl group army, which was made up of a coalition of 3rd generation top girl groups such as Blackpink and Twice and 4th generation new girl groups such as New Jeans, Le Seraphim, Ive, and Aespa. This KPOP girl group's offensive in the United States and even Europe is different in terms of quantitative scale from the previous attack on the United States by KPOP Sunville University BTS. It can be said that they are literally bombing the American and European pop markets indiscriminately from all directions. As such, KPOP's current foray into the American and European pop market is reminiscent of Mongolia's conquest of Europe in the past, as mentioned earlier... Nevertheless, it is true that conquering the American pop market is not easy. The United States is currently the world's most powerful pop empire, with many of the world's most powerful pop singers, including Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande. It is thought that KPOP is currently preparing for the second major KPOP offensive. The second major attack is expected to be a BTS-level KPOP elite boy group. And the moment this 2nd KPOP base is fully formed, KPOP will launch an all-out war against the US and European markets, putting its fate at stake...

However, they don’t wanna be out. They are doing something, trying to appeal to public, not shareholders, in order to keep the power. Rather they cannot afford to be out because there are too many, way too many, accounting schemes to be discovered when they are out. Most importantly, I don’t think they are doing good job as the management.

Loosing him appeared to be great for SM however they have to correct it all now and keeping in mind LSM was there for so long. The management if it can change will take a while to change and if I was them I would be very cautious if not resentful of another finger in the pie to mess things up. The interview questions regarding Kpop were too broad, biased, and obsolete. It's possible that the interviewer lacked the expertise to inquire about Kpop. Those familiar with Bang Si Hyun and his company Big Hit or Hybe are aware that he intentionally implemented a new approach due to the unacceptable state of the music industry in Korea. BTS's immense popularity can be attributed to this distinctive set of values and beliefs that Bang Si Hyuk brought to the Kpop and music industry.

  • @kswwsk
    @kswwsk Жыл бұрын

    Nonsense. Hybe is trying to take over the industry. Hybe doesn't care about artists or fans or music. Hybe cares about money full-stop. Why didn't you ask him why Hybe didn't give one of heir main artist's debut solo album proper management? Hybe is claiming to be able to promote artists well in America but they didn't distribute j-hope's debut album singles to American radio stations despite radio stations requesting it. They didn't give More a digital store and only gave his album one because fans made a fuss over it but it was 5 days late. Even j-hope's latest release, On The Street featuring JCole, wasn't going to get a pre order digital store until fans demands for one got press coverage. The album was only released in a physical form that doesn't count on American charts either because Hybe chose it or because they failed to give their artist adequate advice and guidance. All of these failings, and the rest hampered the results for j-hope's solo debut especially in America. So either Hybe is lying about being "good at promoing artists in America" or they did it on purpose, either incompetent or sabotaging. Neither provides any faith that they will do right by artists under SM. Then there are the issues of how Hybe treat fans. Why didn't youbask them why weverse, Hybe's flagship retail division, doesn't post to several countries, the UK, one of the top music markets in the world, being one of them? Or why it changes such ridiculous and out of proportion postage fees to the countries it does post to? Why it makes fans basically pay twice to get tickets by making all tickets available to fans who buy membership only knowing full well the tickets will sell out so there will be none left for general sales, forcing fans to buy membership for any chance of tickets? These and so many more questions should have been asked of him, but like with bts I'm guessing you had to get approval of what questions you could ask. Or you simply didn't do your full research such as ask the fans ie the consumers and dig just a bit more than surface level. FYI, the fans commenting here praising Hybe and Bang are the surface level. They are his fans more than they are fans of artists and music despite what they think or claim. But you'd know that if you actually investigated. Sadly gone are days journalists did that.

Kpop just gets more and more capitalistic

    But they are not wanting to do that, they want position on directors board to better guide decision making with SM management and a more open structure to help SM with better decision making with auditors to monitor it. Its nothing to do with changing the artists its correcting upper management and their decision making........

    @@fazimotasin8277 The courts already ruled against Kakao and now Bang PD has surfaced he will be talked about sadly. When he went back to producer I was happy for him as that is where he liked to be. But now even though I personally think there is alot of benefit in it, he will be talked about negatively. Should of seen my reaction to LSM response to the court ruling. I was like "OMG please DO NOT say anything about HYBE or Bang PD" what did he do....I just shook my head at this dude.
