Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 Review: Test Ride and First Impressions

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is the sister bike to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. Both motorcycles are single-cylinder bikes that utilize the motor from the KTM Duke 390. In this Vitpilen 401 review video and first ride, we check out the bike and put it through its paces in an urban environment, as well as getting out on the backroads to see what the Vitpilen can do in the corners when it has a little more room to run. Along the way, I discuss the Vitpilen vs Svartpilen (I rode both back to back), compare Vitpilen vs Duke, and think long and hard about picking up a Husqvarna Vitpilen for myself.
A short test ride doesn't give enough seat time to do a full in-depth Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 review, but it did give me a chance to consider the bike's more "sport bike" style ergos and compare it to the Svartpilen's more upright riding position. Ultimately, I feel like both the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 are great bikes for new riders because they're unintimidating and easy to ride, but also fantastic bikes for experienced motorcycle riders who want to push a slower bike to its absolute limit.

I bought it at beginning of the year I'm really pleased with it! I had fear of not be able to ride more than half a day but by getting more upright and light on the handle it's no problem for 2-3 hours !! For the power and agility it's on point in the Twisties I'm riding against mt07 z650 z900 no problems to keep up and even get in front Downside The screen the high seat (1.72cm) The cabling But man it's fun !!!

@@dmigsy yes I only try the svart (they didn't got a vit for try) it's really the same feeling except for the handlebars, it feels a little bit more confortable on the arms! The problem is still on the seat and especially Je jonction between the seat and the tank that can became to feel uncomfortable on long ride. But Depends on your riding style

I wonder if the comfort would improve with clip ons and risers.

Nice vid man, I like your easygoing video style. I'm considering buying one of these and actually downgrading in power from my SV650 - Can't afford the 701 right now, but I really like the way these look and want to something with ABS.

@@DorkintheRoad Yeah, there's a dealer up the road that has a few in stock. Not sure if they'll let me test ride, but there is one a couple hours away someone is selling used that I could consider otherwise.

How would that do on a freeway? Could it cruise at lower RPM at 70MPH or is it geared to short?

I'm honestly not sure. We didn't get above 60 or so on the test drive. It seemed to handle that fine, though.

It'll go over 100. The mirrors (which are not factory standard on the bike you're riding) are buzzy.

Test rode one of those. Great Little bike. Felt less sporty than the R1 I have now (I'm looking for a daily commuter since R1M is not happy in slow city riding, and you're right. The name stands for Husky White Arrow. Any sugestions whether the Cartersville or Vitpilen is the beret (or maybe a 390 Duke?) Looking at all 3 bikes, so I'd love some opinions before making up my mind. One comment: Another difference between the Vitpilen and the Svartpilen is that the black bike comes with off road tires, so I'm kinda considering that one over the Duke and Vit b/c possibility of offload use? AGain, suggestions?

@@DorkintheRoad I could do either. I ride a Yamaha sports bike right now (so, an "agressive" position is not an issue for me). I'm lookin gfor a 1 or 2 cyl. that is good to drive around town, that is fairly cheap, and looks good, but that I won't have to worry about it too much. This and the Duke 390/690 and the Svartpilen are tempting choices right now. I just trying to decide whether the crazy look of the KTM or the unique look of the "Huskies" is what I like, and also whether I want a road only bike (Vitpilen and DUkes) or one that can also do off road (Svart).

Good review, the flashing light at 7k rpm is telling you to up shift gear because the bike is on its break in period, I have this bike, I’ve also had a ninja 636, different worlds obviously, but this little beast goes like nothing else in its category when you hit over 7k rpm, up to about 11k rpm, it’s a shame you couldn’t let it loose,

The Vitpilen and the Svartpilen I think are excellent starter bikes. They're easy enough to handle for a beginner but fun enough that you'll still enjoy them when you've got some experience. The Grom only has the first thing. I love mine, but I wouldn't want it to be my only bike.

I'm way late to this partay buuuut on a sporty bike your legs should be holding your body up. Basically, you should be able to have your body and arms able to pretty much hover without having to put much if any weight on em. Your quads are probably stronger than you think they are! As for me I've spent the last 17 years riding that way on my BMW R1200ST :)

Dork in the Road how do they handle? I could put the taller bars on the Vitpilen aftermarket to make it more comfortable, I like those tires too but I found the Vitpilen for $3,999 that’s too good of a deal to pass, and even tho I agree about the look of the tires on scartpillen they look a little sketchy on pavement
