Have had this mower for 10 years. Went through a couple seasons of throwing drive belts often and couldn't figure out the trigger. After reading forums and doing some investigating, the culprit is a cracked frame below the seat. Had a buddy weld the joints for reinforcement, and have had no issues for the last 8 years. Inspect your frame - I can almost guarantee that is it.

I appreciate you taking the time to make the Vid Vasko, if its working for you Grate. But Mechanically that shouldn't make any difference at all. I've had mine for a few years now and the Deck belt did walk off a few times at first. I adjusted the Deck, it was considerably out of level Left to right and did not have the proper pitch down towards the front. Other than the occasional small branch kicking the belt off, its never walked off on its own since. With the work and experimenting that was done to your Mower, the deck Level/Pitch may have been moved just enough to solve your problem. Fun Fact: I came across your Vid today because my Deck Belt broke the other day. I went out and bought a new one for a LGT2654 54" Deck and it was way to long. I'm in the process of more detailed research for the correct size belt and have found Three different sizes that claim to be the right belt. They are only a few CM apart in length, so anyone else having this problem may want to check the Owners manual for the Exact Part Number.

I could see this being the case if the belt was only jumping off during the engage/disengage process. However, mine typically throws the belt several hours into cutting without disengaging the blades and reengaging them. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

I have an older 54 inch cut model that does throw the deck belt as well. Yes, it is occasionally but sometimes deck cuts the belt when mower passes over the loose belt. My neighbor has a newer version of the 54 inch cut and has thrown the deck belt in tall grass before. This is crazy the factory has not come up with a fix. I have a 15 year old Kubota lawn tractor that still has original deck belt. I hope a Y-Tuber will help solve the cause and I can get it fixed.

@@davidshettlesworth1442 so I’ve had two years to play with this problem and here’s what I’ve come up with. As long as I keep the deck height elevated enough to not touch the ground, it will not toss the belt. My previous yard was rough and I couldn’t avoid it but I’ve since moved and can cut without my deck ever getting bounced around and it stays fairly level throughout my mows, haven’t jumped a belt in a year and a half when I was going through three belts a year.

I just had the deck belt come off of a customer's version of this the first time I went to test it out. I engaged the blades at low engine RPM and the engine stalled. In the mix, the belt came right off. Give it some RPM prior and it stays on. The issue, at least in my case, is when the momentum of the blades puts a torque on the belt the other way, making the belt tensioner on the tension side of the belt rather than the slack side for a brief moment and then gravity simply does the rest as the belt falls off of the PTO. A solution to the problem would be to fabricate some kind of device that limits the travel of the tensioning mechanism after the belt is installed, perhaps a stronger spring, or some belt guides like other low-cost mowers utilize. The design has nothing to accommodate rapid deceleration of the engine speed relative to the deck spindle speed which is likely to happen with most engines that spin as many degrees of crankshaft rotation between ignition events. Simply running out of gas while the blades are engaged will likely result in the belt coming off. But at least it is easy to put back on.
@nnvasko5 жыл бұрын
There are two additional reasons for the belt popping off that can be addressed. One is the belt wear. If it is worn it can stretch and comes off easy as a result. Another one is the deck front or back too high or too low to a horizontal plane.

On the LGT 2654, there are 2 belts. The deck belt, and the drive belt. If you engage the blades while it is moving, and the belt comes off, you have a different problem, than I do. My drive belt comes off, when I back up. I did some research into the problem, and found out, that the transmission is not the right size, for the mower. Also, the 22 inch tires are the wrong size for it. It is supposed to have 20 inch rear tires. Over time, the brackets where the transmission mounts, will become weak enough, that they will crack slightly, causing the transmission to tilt forward slightly. Thereby causing the drive belt to come off. I bought mine new. in 2013. Two years ago, is when the failure occurred. I had it repaired, and the belt replaced. I got it out this year, to start mowing, and hadn't made a complete pass, when the belt came off. I took the back tires off as well as the deck, so I could put the belt back on. I noticed that the transmission had once again, tilted forward, and the frame had new cracks in it, where the transmission bolts on. Needless to say, I won't be repairing it again.

I feel that this is not the problem. This is the 2nd mower of these I've had. Now of course the belt is a little worn but not broken so NOW I have fixed the problem. See I cut low. Down to the 2 or 3 mark. The angle coming off the engine is too high and too much of an angle to the pulley. I have raised the front of the engine by only 3 washers. Just enough to straighten the angle of attack just a little. No belt loss from now on.!!

I have this same mower and I routinely engage/disengage the blades while underway. Forward or backward, no problem. Sometimes my drivebelt will slip off the tensioner pulley when the parking brake is engaged. Mine makes a ton of noise when the drive is engaged. The bearings in all of the drive pulleys are loud asf! They are junk! Everything about this mower is cheap, except the price. Will not buy another.
