Husqvarna Lawn Mower Frame Repair

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video is about how to modify and fix the shoddy rear frame mounts on a Husqvarna lawn mower. They've been designed with a weakness in the rear transmission to frame mounts. This video shows you how to fix the problem that's both very inexpensive and final. It'll take you about 4 hours and cost about $25, and will make your mower a 100% better machine. Do exactly this and your problem will be history. If you have any question, please leave a comment below and I'll try to answer them as soon as possible.

Thanks for the video. I had this exact problem and followed your directions with 100% success. What a pain to fix but she is good to go now! Also just a side note - I was at Lowes and decided to see if Husqvarna has addressed this problem on the current models as mine is about 7 years old now. All the standard models are still made this way and it's not until you get up into the top two $3,500-4,000 models that they correct this issue - unbelievable!

Good stuff! Very heavy duty quality fix, should last far longer than the life of the tractor. Except for the paint job, that was a little hard to watch, lol! My left eye was starting to nervously twitch when watching that part of the video, lmao!! I have a TS354XD which is the biggest garden tractor that Husqvarna currently makes and it comes with the big Tuff Torque K66 rear end with a locker. Can you believe that they still mounted that big rear end to those exact same little flimsy mounting brackets! If the K46 could twist and tear them the K66 definitely will. I don't know what they were thinking! All they done different was put a support bracket on one side that bolts from the frame to the bottom side of the rear end to help it not twist. It's not a bad idea, but they only done it to one side! I'm going to make a matching bracket for the other side and reinforce the top brackets with gussets in hopes to stop the problem before it happens. I do put a lot of force and stress on the tractor with the Johnny Bucket Jr. and all the sleeve hitch attachments I use so hopefully the preventive maintenance will take care of the problem in advance. I've already reinforced the whole front of the frame with 3/4" x 2" steel bar so with the rear end reinforcements added on it should be a ridiculously strong frame by time I'm done with it.

Bravo! Did this exact thing last year. Cracked frame at rear had the transmission twisting and drive belt popping off. Cut some angle iron, drilled some holes and tied the transmission bolts into the angle iron from the bottom. Solid repair. Well done sir! You'd think spending $2,500 on a riding mower would give you some quality and longevity, you would be wrong. All junk. Like you said in your video, the frame thickness is the same thickness of those tabs that hold the transmission in place. They did not reinforce it with thicker plate steel.

I just finished watching your video, I want to say thanks for posting and sharing.I am in the process of doing the same repair and your video is going to be a huge help. I agree with Cecil's comment...what a piss poor design.I thought I was to blame for the frame breaking until I brought it to my local Husqvarna dealer and asked if they could fix it and they explained to me that this problem is not uncommon...it sat there for 3 weeks, they didn't get to it for whatever lame reason , I finally said enuff is enuff...I'll go get it and do the repair myself. I was going to weld a new bracket but I think bolting it in place is the way to go. Thanks again.

I think majority of the problem is derived from ppl not keeping up with maintaining the axel. This happens because the upgraded torq of the rear axel motor (which everyone appreciates)👌🏼 is enough to ‘force’ the rotation EVEN if/when SOMETHING IS IN A BIND! Lack of fluid, bits of worn metal in case...magnets/filter full of shit... regular Joe blow owner isn’t keeping up with those regular maintenance items, which cause their issue to happen.

Thank you for the video, was able to take your idea and repair my mower, versus taking it to a mower shop for repair or welding the frame up. AWESOME repair video

I have the same problem with mine and thought about doing the exact same thing to fix it. Thanks for sharing. Now I know that mine will be fixed for good after trying to weld it 2 times. The welds did not hold. I even flipped the transmission bracket over to support the bottom because the bolts had broken off. Nothing I have done up to this point has worked. I am currently working on it as I type. I got so pissed off because nothing I done has fixed it.so I took a little brake and I found your video just after I decided to try the same thing to fix it. I hope it works as good as yours did. Whoever engineered this design needs their ass kicked because what they have is not the proper way to support the rear-end and transmission. I' also have the same problem with my mowing deck. It is tarring a loose from the frame. So more angle iron and bolts. Thanks again for taking the time to share.

Hey Cecil, I'm very happy that it helped you in any way. Mine is bullet proof now. I just looked at it the last time I mowed, and it still looks exactly like when I finished repairing it. I'm 100% positive that it'll never break there again. Good luck.

Great video, I'm about to start this repair and I'm confident I can complete this! What a shitty design, I've had the belt slipping off for 2 years and now I know why - this repair will only take slightly longer than putting the stupid belt back on (gigantic pain in the ass). I'm going to use two existing frame holes and drill 2 new ones (each side), I didn't see any reason not to use a couple existing holes, they were unused. Thanks for taking the time to post.

i just saw your video and it was good......I have a 1 year old husqvarna gt52XLS and I got a front blade attachment to push some brush.Well after a few tries of pushing brush the frame bent and I bent my steering rods and maybe my front axle.I just don't understand how week the frame is so I have to figure out how to I guess get another frame(I guess) or what do you suggest? Since its bent a little I need to get another one and then strengthen it like you have done ....

Hi, I just discovered I have the exact same problem on my Husqvarna 2348LS tractor. I want to attempt to fix it myself but I want to make sure I get the right hardware. You mentioned that you used 1/4" thick steel brackets for the repair. Do you think 1/8" thick steel brackets would be strong enough? 1/8" steel is easier to get than the 1/4" version. Would you mind sharing the dimensions of your brackets as well as the dimensions on the bolts you used? Thanks!

I’m going to have to do this to my John Deere. The mower runs and operates greats , it just has a really cheap crappy frame that bolts to the rear transmission. I’m going to need to put bigger angle iron plates in like yours. On mine the frame was breaking around we’re I put the angle iron plates in but mine was a lot smaller then the plates you put on your mower frame

Do you have any ideas on why the transaxle is not the same since my rear frame broke in 3 places? Luckily my father in law can weld and the frame is all welded up, but ever since then, the power of the transaxle is almost cut in half it seems. Is this a belt issue, or did the frame compromise the tranny?

thanks for the no-weld solution, this looks great! same issue happened with my john deere lawn tractor la145, figured it was the rocking back and forth from snow blowing. metal also looked super thin for holding this all together. instagram.com/p/BukdrWdgyb1/
