Husqvarna 394XP Won't Run Correctly

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Lets look at a Husqvarna 394XP chainsaw that had a hole in the fuel line but was mis-diagnosed and got a carb rebuild. I'll show you the results of setting your metering lever at the wrong height. #smallenginerepair

    Whenever a customer told me they rebuilt something, that was usually it. It's amazing the difference the height of the metering lever makes. That measuring gauge is pretty cool

    Thats so true. What bothers me is that if you notice in the video I even pushed on that lever the first time through the carb. I just totally overlooked that it was wrong. The good news is that if I would have caught it the first time then this would have just been another boring carb rebuild video.

    I noted that the OEM fuel line was of a coiled version (bong bong bong inside the gas tank to get every drop of fuel). In a pinch, can one install a straight fuel line with the proper diameter?

  • @TheGreasyShopRag

    @TheGreasyShopRag

    7 ай бұрын

    Yes just install it so the filter lays on the floor of the tank.

    Hi Scott, how do you know which carburetors require the metering lever flush with the carb and which require the stepped down gauge?

  • @TheGreasyShopRag

    @TheGreasyShopRag

    Google "zama carb gauge" or "walbro carb gauge". There are rare exceptions but for the most part these are accurate.

    Hi there . I have been watching your channel for sometime now from robot mowers toolboxes but mostly chainsaw stuff . I have a saw with an issue I can't seem to solve and any ideas would be appreciated. Husqvarna 560xp or 562xp same thing really. It will start on choke revv then die it will not idle. You can do this any number of times but it will only ever start on choke not high idle even if its the 10th time in doing this in a matter of minutes you can keep it going for a minute or so by revving but it eventually dies . I put a carb kit into it new diaphragm pump etc still the exact same no better or worse . I put a brand new plug in still the same . As far as I am led to believe I can't fit a new auto tune module or carb as they need to be paired to the ignition and piston through the software and I am not a dealer . I removed the muffler to have a look at the piston and it looks not to bad I certainly don't think it's a scoring issue . If it was an older saw I would be thinking impulse or fueling issue but from what I can see this gets impulse through the intake boot and the fuel lines look good . Any ideas or have you came across similar issues . As I said any info would be appreciated thanks

    I wouldn't base a fuel lines condition on looks alone. Pressure testing the line would be the first thing I would do. You're correct that a new replacement carb has to be programmed by a dealer. A used carb does not IF the coil is the same part number. That also means you can replace the ignition coil with an exact same part number coil without updating the carb.

    At work break watching your video again. Curious about your choice of pump diaghram. You used the thinner white one. Its always gave me better response. Any personal preferences?

  • @TheGreasyShopRag

    @TheGreasyShopRag

    I never use the rubber ones if given a choice. They don't hold up well to ethanol. The blue and black acetate ones are a durable choice for low volume pumping because they are stiff. The white ones are also very durable but are more flexible and probably push more fuel.
