Happy Birthday Hopper!!! I usually cut the square so that fresh air will mix with some fuel mixture and get the oil in it so it’s not slamming the hot pistons like old Walt from Allfleetcommand does them…. I just started trying to use those Xtorq topend’s… got four I was going to just drop an aftermarket topend on but I’m going try on of the ported version’s first… hate to loose all those intake parts????

I have found that the squish is always tighter than the solder indicates unless using solder that is very close to the squish clearance. Your solder said .024", but it was very likely much closer to .020"
