People sometimes don’t have transportation to evacuate.

You can't have hurricane reporting without Al Roker in the field.

Water is expected to get over 9 feet in lake charles. One graph showed 20 ft of water, this isnt survivable.

@@davidmoody7450 yes actually. 1 2 and 3 i stay. 4 and 5 i leave. if your stupid enough to make the choice to stay, you should have to fend for yourself. especially if youre withing 20km of the ocean aka. storm surge area. if you CAN'T leave for medical reasons you should be on the priority list.

You’re only hearing what the news wants you to hear in a 30 second segment. There is always more to the story. How do you know they actually need saving. That video clip showed the storm was over. Their home was above the water level and they had everything they needed to survive at home. Why would they leave? Where would they go. How are they going to survive? At home they have food and shelter and everything they need. If they leave they have nothing.

She hit around 11pm and I saw a thick black cloud racing across the sky. But around 4am if no one will tell you I will. I was in my apartment in lake Charles Louisiana on Louisiana ave. But around 4am her winds got up to 300 mph. Ya we stayed me and my daughter. we had no choice. You can read my comment where I tried to make people who got so much to say about people who stayed and why. I felt that way about Hurricane Katrina victims. But not until I became Hurricane Laura victim did I fully understand why some people couldn't leave because I couldn't.

For everyone that is saying that the people that didn’t leave most likely were poor and can’t leave. They had many resources for people to leave. There were buses for transportation to take you to safety, there were hotlines you could call so that they could come to you and pick you up if you couldn’t walk/elderly, and there were plenty of safe havens and places that you could’ve been taken to. Many people did that. Just FYI the people that stayed are a majority that had a choice to leave but decided not to.

Any storm is survivable if you have sufficient cover and air to breathe. They should not have used that word to describe a standard hurricane in the usual location in the normal season.
