Hurricane Irma's most dangerous quadrant

Many are calling Hurricane Irma's current track the worst-case scenario for south Florida. New York's WCBS chief weathercaster Lonnie Quinn joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss why Irma's impact will be felt far beyond the center of the storm.

    "I still don't get why people want to stay." So... are you gonna pay for my gas to drive out of the state? My room and board when I get to a location that's safe? Food and necessities for however long it takes before I can go back to, what I hope, is a still-standing home? What if it's no longer livable? Are you going to pay for my room and board until I can either rebuild or relocate? What about my job? If it's been obliterated by the storm, will you offer me a new job, or help to get my place of work back on it's feet? It's so easy for anyone who is well-off to speak those words, and to judge those who are less fortunate and poorer. Until you're in our situation, where the only place you can potentially go is a shelter, where you may have to stay for weeks, or months after the storm is over because your only home, your job, and your life, has been completely destroyed, you have absolutely no right to judge, or even question, why we stay. Start lending some help to those who need it instead; the thousands in Texas, and soon, the likely thousands in Florida, will damn sure need it.

    Oh irma from the iss is beautiful. The news is repeating 150 mph wind over and over. Then this guy says 35+ for most of this hurricane. That doesn't seem right. I think everyone has seen or even stood in 30 mph gusts before they are common with thunderstorms.

  • @sham8614

    To everyone who thinks that's a tiny miniaturized hurricane: ITS NOT. They used CGI to animate it lol. You can tell because a hurricane that small would still be destructive inside a TV news station,

    I'd rather stay in Miami. Theres no where else to go honestly, the highways are all crowded beyond belief. No hotel anywhere, and I'd have nowhere to stay if i left. Plus i know my house is well built and it can withstand these hurricanes. So ill stay put here with my family and tough it out.

  • @backpocket718
    @backpocket7187 жыл бұрын

    It's not always want but have to. There is no way out. People are stuck on the highways without gas, or resources. Even if they got to somewhere all the places are booked up and the storm is still coming. Meaning your stuck in your car for days with no real resources and nowhere to go.
