HURRICANE: How the Silent Majority Fought the Anti-Israel Storm at Eurovision | The Quad

Ойын-сауық

Israeli superstar Eden Golan's competition in Eurovision highlighted the discrepancy between celebrity judges/influencers and the silent majority when it comes to Israel. Similarly, despite there being noisy and disruptive anti-Israel encampments and protests across American campuses, polls show that the overwhelming majority of Americans remain supportive of Israel and most college kids care very little about Gaza.
Does the mob matter? What can Israel do to reach influencers? What can Israel do, as was the case with Eden Golan, to get the silent majority to speak up and defeat the anti- Israel movement?
The Quad interview brand specialist and strategist behind Operation Hurricane Joanna Landau about how to reach the next generation and what Israel must do to win the battle over public opinion.
And of course Scumbags and Heroes of the Week!
"Influencers are afraid to be associated with the "toxic" brand of Israel"

@@Budguy68 I have read The Bible. The Bible prophesies that God will bring His people back to the land from all over the world which He has done. Jerusalem is where The Bible says that God put His name. God gave the land to the His people. Jesus is coming back to Jerusalem to save them from their enemies who attack them. Read The Bible from front to back and it clearly shows that God gave them the land and Jesus is coming back to rule as King in Jerusalem. He is King of the Jews.

HONEYHO: I am so happy to hear you say that. Chinese & Jews are from very old, distinguished, literate, peace loving cultures -family- and education-oriented-and we always got along so well, but now young people (especially Chinese Americans) are exposed to horrific anti-Israel, anti-Jewish propaganda on TikTok. It is breaking my heart and I don’t know what to do about it. The daughter of one of my oldest friends in San Francisco (they are Chinese) knows only what she sees on TikTok and I wonder if I should try to talk to her about the anti-Israel & anti-Jewish things she’s hearing on TikTok…

Yes, and to say the truth, I feel offended, that this lady said Germany gave zero points. You want a zero? I live in a city with a big university and we had zero protest marches for Hamas or Palestine and we have zero protest camps. There's something strange going on atm with these protests. They are well organised, but they are not typically far left. The protesters you see there are not the same you see at typical far left protests. For example, there's no black block. This movement looks like something new, something very strange. Antisemitic, woke, sometimes communist signs, mostly women, and when you ask about the signs they carry, they have no idea. What's going on here?

Eden Golan is definitely an Israeli young lady to be proud of. She represented Israel in such an honorable way! The words of the song, the dancers and the choreography, the clothes chosen... To me, Israel was the winner! As a Canadian/Greek who has lived in both countries, I remember Eurovision. I remember Israel's songs from my childhood in the 1978 and 1979 wins (yes, I'm that old 😅). I haven't watched Eurovision in many many years, so I didn't find out until after the final. Eden's answer to that German journalist showed that besides her beauty, talent, and poise, she also has a brain. Israel must be very proud! Kudos also to the dancers. I don't care for Eurovision anymore because the style of songs no longer represents what I want to hear and see. Everything about Israel's song was respectful! I'm sorry about Greece's juror vote. I don't know what has happened to my country 😔. It pains me but it's where we are! God bless you! Continued prayers 🙏 🇮🇱♥️🇮🇱

Unfortunately, the forced-financed media in Switzerland also regularly agitated against Israel. And that's been going on for decades. And unfortunately that still has an influence on the majority. Most Swiss people don't care about the conflict in the Middle East. But there has always been a part of the population that is very anti-Semitic. And most of them are the so-called elite and not ordinary people. Why am I interested in Israel? When I was young, I worked in Israel and of course traveled there, which I have very positive memories of. The public gave Israel 12 points, and SRF is neither pro-Palestine nor pro-Israel, but mostly neutral. You don't have to be a Christian to be good with Israel; many STEM scientists in Switzerland of course work with Israel just as the people in the financial and military/telcom sector or in the Start-Up world.

It is not her, but the pro-Hamas idiots who bring danger to such an event and esp. the candidate of Israel. The idea that Israel should build a brand like the BLM, BDS, Queer or Greta Thunberg movements is very good. The anti-Israel movement is not based on knowledge, but on emotions that were built up in years, I'd say since the 1960th. May you be heard by the right ppl to get support.

Anyone who is on KZread, x, fb, whatever, who challenges online lies about Israel; help to balance it the other way. You can do the same kind of thing in conversation, if political discussions are happening. Ditto for contacting your political representatives, if you live in a democracy. Some Ukrainians definitely voted for Israel judging by comments on social media, but there were not enough votes to give them any points. The reason as to why so few Ukrainians supported Israel probably stems from the fact that Eden Golan grew up in Russia and performed in occupied Crimea - Ukrainians currently, generally speaking, hate Russia, anything to do with Russia, and, most importantly in this situation, anyone who, directly or indirectly, supports the occupation of Crimea. (And btw I'm not suggesting Eden Golan supports the occupation of Crimea, since I have no idea as to her views on the topic, but to many Ukrainians her performance there is seen as an indirect endorsement of the occupation, regardless of her age at the time.)
