Hurricane Frances Video - Vero Beach Island and Ft. Pierce Beach, Florida
Ғылым және технология
www.UltimateChase.com
Hurricane Frances was a super slow moving and agonizing Hurricane. She took forever to make landfall and had a really big eye. Mike Theiss of UltimateChase.com teamed up with Brian Tiedemann and filmed the beginning effects of Hurricane Frances at Ft. Pierce Beach and then relocated out on the barrier islands of Vero Beach for her landfall. We were able to captured Frances full effects on this island and experience Hurricane Force winds for over 10 Hours......

Great footage! I was a kid, living in West Palm Beach County at the time. I remember Frances and Jeanne very well.

4 hurricanes affected our precious state... Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne....never forget their names and never forget 2004.
I'll never forget 2004. My apartment windows were boarded up for a long time . Three storms, one after another.

WOW!!! Absolutely incredible Frances footage, Mike! Those winds at the beginning of the clip are awesome!
I'll never forget going like 2 days later and there was a boat all the way up top on top of a palm tree the mobile home park to the right when you went over the South Hutchinson bridge was completely flat and all I could do was cry
Imagine how hurricane season this year will be....
Thank you so much for sharing this video.Her and Jeanne did a number on the town...werent happy campers.
i remember riding this storm out when i lived in South Vero Beach. also rode out Hurricane Jeanne a few weeks later and Wilma a year after that.

THAT'S A LOT OF RAIN! Poor old docks they will be missed.
Even though Frances hit the east coast, because of its size we were getting category 1 force winds all the way in Tampa. We in Tampa have been very lucky, but we got completely rocked by that one. A tree just missed our window by inches, haf it fell just right our window would've been shattered, the roof very well could've blew off, and I might not be typing this right now. Thank goodness. Plus we were with out power for 53 hours, its hot and humid, all the stores were closed so food was scarce (we did not plan well) it was just miserable and at times, very scary. I never underestimated hurricanes again. And they kept coming too. In Tampa, we felt tbe effects of Jeanne, 2004 Dennis, Wilma, 2005 Alberto, 2006 And most recently Debbie, 2012, which caused the worst area flooding I ever saw. Bayshore blvd was literally a river.

Amazing video...just amazing
Awesome video!!
Nice shots of the wind tunnel effect in the first minute or so right on the beach. I noticed one of the Sabal palms snapped right off, that takes some serious winds, unless it occured at a trunk constriction.
That's some Blue⏳Hour energy right there. 👤.
I remember the summer of 2004 and the back to back hurricanes: charlie. Frances and Jeanne I live in cocoa....not much damage from charlie didn't have any windows boarded up don't remember much. it seemed to pass quickly. Jeanne ( that was a different story) we boarded up, left town and stayed in Orlando, came home next day power out for days.....next came Jeanne (right on the heels of Francis) l swore I'd never stay at home through another hurricane. but again we survived....
What people don't realize is it sat on top of us and it didn't move... We got hammered in fort Pierce
Narration does not hurt but clarifies what one is looking at !! we see trees moving hear the noise and see the water but what are we looking at ?????
I remember seeing Australian pines almost woven together!!
For people asking about wind speed/gusts: we have a friend who lives right on the beach and his wind speed measurement machine broke at 120 mph. Impressive video, but not of the worst part of the storm....

Eyewall winds were 120 mph? I thought Cat 2 or higher had winds over 135 mph.
@harvey106

Cat 2 is 111 - 129 mph. See National Hurricane Center website. They have an article on the wind scale. Francis was officially a cat 2, but had higher gusts.

@JulieNoWay I've lived in Florida my whole life and I've been through this many times, I say that I'm a pro at going through hurricanes, it's pretty crazy, 2004 and 2005 were crazy years for hurricanes. And if you think this was bad look for Hurricane Charley, Hugo, Wilma, Katrina, or Andrew, those were really wild.

@borisoncameron i felt the same way up until this hurricane in particular. with 3 and a half days of gray sky and rain and no electric for two weeks, the city in a state of emergency and most stores and restaurants closed for damage, i was pretty depressed. i don't want to go through that again, but it is exciting when you hear the howling wind and things crashing around in the streets :)
Yeah I live in Port St Lucie, Frances died down though as it hit us here on the Treasure Coast, Thank God
There's a lot of wind and rain and lots of blowing rain how can a hurricane blow traffic lights any down below great video

What's crazy is Jeanne and Frances made landfall in the same spot only 4 or 5 weeks apart. Hutchinson Island / Port Saint Lucie.
@kdawg7736 the max winds here were around 105 mph
This happened 2 years before I was born... and the place I was born at got 3 sets of tropical storm force winds. Although my mom was officially pregnant with me during hurricane Wilma, she said that it was horrible in Tampa!!!! Imagine 3 tropical storms hitting your city... that’s tampa
I live in PSL and I remember Francis was a 4 but it died down to a 2 right when it hit us, We got lucky but then of course two weeks later Jeanne hit.
this the first one i been in crazy day
Once again in FL we are preparing for Hurricane Irma

i remember this crap i lived in hollywood fl and we got like 40 50 mile winds
Know what the wind speed here is?
@cyclonevic744

105 mph. eye wall winds were 135 mph.
the hurricane wilma end of worl
Nice to see vid,,, to feel the hole island shake with the pounding serf, not so nice.
Frances--SUSTAINED winds of 105, means gust were probably 120-130. Parts of Florida experienced hurricane force winds for over 14 hours! A bad year for the sunshine state: Charley, Frances, Jeanne and Wilma. Charley was the worst.
@brandonohara4122

We got lucky with frances. It was sustained 140 mph winds then weakened to 105-110 rigjt before it made landfall. It was at one point point stationary over the treasure coast. Imagine if it would of stayed at 140 mph while just sitting on us....yikes
I had to drive out in this madness to pick up a lunatic woman we knew b/c she was bound and determined to ride the storm out in her apartment... Never been so scared in my life!
hurricane frances was a catacory 4 or catacory 5

She was for a long time, but she slowed down and some wind shear,dropped her to to 105mph. the winds were 145 mph so 145-105=40. it dropped 40 miles per hour in wind speed. I can imagine if it did not slow down and the winds stayed at a 145, and the water made it go 40+ in wind speed, then... 145+40=185... 185 landfall...

@JulieNoWay I grew up in Southern California wait until you go through a earthquake !! I prefer the hurricanes more time to prepare
ummm. Hurricanes ain't like they used to be. we get dealt cat 4's. & 5's now. category 2, lol is a hurricane party. (FLORIDA ❤ UNITED)
