Hurricane Beryl barreling toward Jamaica as Category 4 storm

Residents in Jamaica are expected to face life-threatening storm surge, heavy rain and strong winds from Hurricane Beryl, now a Category 4 storm. CBS News correspondent Tom Hanson has a report from Montego Bay, Jamaica, and CBS News Philadelphia meteorologist Kate Bilo has a look at Beryl's track.

    Jamaica is in the northwest quadrant which has the strongest winds. Things don't look good. There will also be a high tidal surge on the north shore. This is the last thing the poverty stricken people of Jamaica need. Hope for the best....prepare for the worst.

    It is too windy to land and take off. Airports don't close the moment the storm hit, there are high winds from the outer bands before it actually hits

    Where is the help for The Isands??!!! They’ve been left stranded for how long?! At the least, it has been 24 hrs! Had this been any place else, the area would be swarming with Aide personnel, Red Cross, etc… Why has no one gone to their aide?! 🤔

BEGINNING TO END; AND THE AFTERMATH IS SOMETHING NOT EVEN THE STRONGEST PERSON CAN HOLD TEARS. MY HEART GOES OUT TO JAMAICA AND ALL ISLANDS HURT BY BERYL. GOOD VIBES FROM PUERTO RICO 🫶🇵🇷✌️
