Hurricane Agnes hits Pittsburgh - KDKA (June 23, 1972)

Broadcast of KDKA-TV's Eyewitness News from June 23, 1972, covering the impacts of Hurricane (Tropical Storm) Agnes on the Pittsburgh region.
Over the course of three days of heavy rainfall, the Pittsburgh area experienced record flooding. The total rainfall amounted to 11 inches, causing the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio River valleys to be affected. As a result, Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh was submerged. However, the Eastern Pennsylvania region was hit much harder, with the Susquehanna River causing severe flooding in cities such as Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Easton, and Harrisburg, among others.

Just curious, what was the theme KDKA used for "Eyewitness News" back then, had to be from one of the production music libraries. I know WPIX (Channel 11) in New York used that theme from 1973 to about 1976.

1973 Pittsburgh flood was terrible.Remember hearing about it on the radio as well as seeing news reports on tv. Pittsburgh's 3 rivers all flooded this Spring..Damage today not as bas as what happened years ago. Thank God for flood control measures.
