I like to think that at one point Trolls could have been real. Whether they were the massive creatures from Lord of the Rings or folklore or if they were simply large apes or hominids that once wandered across the planet is a different question, but it's nice to believe that there's still something mystical about our planet beneath all of the cold, hard logic and calculated facts.

This was really nice. I think it's fun that old superstitions still has a strong hold in the Nordic countries. Even in our family home in Sweden we had a grass tuft that we talked about as if it were a living troll. When we were burning the grass every spring we would make sure not to set fire to it, and in the summer we would cut its "hair" so that it would be able to see better.

LiquoriceLover I’m a native of Iceland and I have seen some strange large wool people in the mountains. They were big fuckers like 230-300cm tall. They had dark hair and giant noses. When they smelled me out and looked at me I ran and yelled the other directions.

It was -21,3°C when I saw them and I it was very weird because they had a lot of exposed skin. They were also wearing wool clothing which was badly sown together and I heard no language only one grunt. I’m never going back there.

Unlike what most know, we do have historical accounts of the unicorn actually existing, but sadly humans killed that animal off about 8-9000 years ago, but from the history we know it is a account and not a myth that they did exist in India and where valued for every part of their bodies and skeletons for use in medicine and potions etc, thus why we do not have remains, for they were over hunted by a people whom believed in using every part of the animals they killed, unlike how our people do things today and only use certain parts. fascinating none the less to find out it was not a myth, and it goes to show the truth behind the saying "Within all myths there is truth"

Just to tell you some truth, dimensional doors did existed but they were close in the 1980's and some creatures are still out but hidden to humans until the nights. 90's still had a lot of manifestations, today only teens at night loose their mind and the mountain calls them. They walk and get lost until they find them roaming in the wild not in their mind.

If you’re driving around the country, and you end up in some tourist trap with some important piece of our natural history (like the geyser, the falls or even the blue lagoon) just keep in mind that if they say they believe in elves, trolls or any other mythical creature most foreigners think of when they hear Iceland..... they don’t. Maybe few do, but this isn’t as common as you’d think. Trust me, I am Icelandic

I believe that there were such a thing as trolls. Being from Norwegian descent, I am well aware of the stories of my ancestors, and how terrifying these creatures were. I think trolls were a type of species of giant. You had the trolls of Norway/ Scandinavia, the giants of the Americas, and orcs, goblins, etc. of Europe. They were all basically the same, each of a different build and were killed in the Great Flood.
