I love my Henry’s dearly but no way could I leave my 1988 model 7600 in .35 whelen. Nothing in a lever gun competes in power with the whelen.

The whelen is one of my favorites and go to calibers, but in a thick 100 yard and in hunting situation the 358 win, 348, 35 Remington, 45-70, are all more than required for that situation. Shot placement and bullet construction is more important than slightly more FPS or slightly more energy.

@@jonfisher9960Theres a guy out west I know that gets an elk every year, granted he lives there and is much older so knows the area very well, but each year with a 30-30 he gets his elk. They are not the monster bulls everyone thinks about but which ever his tag allows which can be a cow many times, but 75 yards and in is all he goes. Great to see the older calibers still doing good as they once did when they were brand new

The king of the “big woods” lever guns is chambered in 358 Winchester. They are still around - new in the BLR & pre-owned models in the late, great Savage 99. No restrictions on the design of the projectile in both these models as they are not tube fed. Better yet - no hammer to mess with in the Savage 99! Let’s not forget the tube fed Winchester’s 356 Winchester. I still very much enjoy a hike in the woods with a Remington 141 in 35 Remington. I doubt if any new firearm is as well designed and as well built as “Mr. P’s model 14 or 141. If you are a handloader, the 35 Remington and the Buckhammer are twins. All this said - outdoorsmen (and women) are always looking for an excuse to purchase a new firearm. And that’s a good thing. Wishing all the gun manufacturers of classic firearms a wonderful new year.

The buckhammer is slightly faster, about 150fps. Higher pressure round. But to your point, no game would know the difference.

I am not in your league as a hunter. I do hunt and enjoy the outdoors and I enjoy everyday that affords me the opportunity to hunt whitetails. We both enjoy studying cartridges and new innovations in our favorite firearms. That said, check out Hornady’s Leverevolution ammo for the iconic 35R. You will find a more aerodynamic bullet design that will get you out further with velocity that matches your beautiful new firearm. Also reloading the 35R classic with Leverevolution Powder will get you to the velocity you describe from the “new Big Green”. Low pressure too. Neither the Buckhammer nor 35 Rem approaches the ballistics of the .358W or 356W. Thanks for the great video, hunting tips, and for taking us along on your hunts.

Yes, we shoot the hornadys out of our leverguns as well. The 35rem leverevolution is the same ballusticscas the 360s corelokt with better coefficients. I'm really curious what the leverevolution will be for the buckhammer...it will be nipping on the 358 wins ballistics.

Seems very odd to me to promote a New product and not have a bunch out to be purchased. Ive never ordered a firearm online and am a bit nervous on having to wait for long period to recieve it only based on the gun shops ive reached out to about the orders theyve made being on back order. Any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.Mark

The 360 Buckhammer only exists is due to states with straight wall cases required. Other than that the good old Marlin 444 round is the sludge hammer of the woods of course it in a 444 rifle not the 336 model. Both rifles are of the same in design so to speak. Like my friend ( RIP Ralph ) The Fat Lady as he dearly called it.

Remington has said no way since they can sell 10x the amounts of 870’s and 700’s. The pump rifle is a fraction of their sales so not worth the retool after the fire at the plant. Sucks cuz I like them and hunt with mine every year.

@@REDNECKROOTS I get it I really just wouldn’t hold your breath. Browning already made a pump model and discontinued it and Henry is a lever gun company. There just isn’t a big market for them. I Luv mine but realize it’s a relic of the past. I get into arguments all the time about still hunting with an 06’. I get there are many new fancy calibers that are technically better then the old stand buys much like this Buckhammer. I like my old school pump and in 06’ but 90-95% of the rest of the country doesn’t understand a pump rifle so the payoff for a company just isn’t worth it to sell a couple hundred guns.

@pathfinder5804 yea you are right. I just wish people realized aside from auto loaders a pump is the most fast n accurate action made. No other manual action let's ya keep your hands in the original firing position. Idk how no1 wants that in there hand's during deer season. I don't think any of these new fancy cartridges are better then a 3006 for typical timber hunting. 250yards and in I'll take my 3006 every time. If I was gona go out west in open country I might take a 7prc. But every thing else the 06 just kills shit!

@@REDNECKROOTS I agree 100% with the pump action rifle. Now I don’t use the fast follow up almost ever but if needed it’s possible. The 06’ isn’t an argument for me in any way. Is it ever the best option probably not but it is truly one of the only rounds that can be used for literally everything in the world basically. I also have a .338win mag just to have a big bolt action rifle and use it for everything in New England and never had issues with it either. But if I’m goin to have to keep one of my rifles and sell the rest it’s gonna be my 06’ pump carbine. I’ve played around and shot at 500yds with it before and know what it does at that distance and I’ve hunted in ME and NH and killed deer for the last 25-30yrs with one. Again sure the 45-70 might be better if your hammering brush all the time and a 6.5creedmore is nice in fields and cuts and a 280 Auckley Improved is a monster for wicked BC but guess what my 06’ is only gonna drop a little more at extreme distances and hits with a couple hundred ft lbs less energy out to 3-400yds. That’s splitting hairs for me and ammo is literally in every country around the world and Mom and Pop convenience in North America. Besides they never made pumps in the fancy wildcats!!!!
