Why You Need a Lever Action | Henry Big Boy Carbine .357 Magnum
Ойын-сауық

We think owning a lever action keeps history alive, which helps us better appreciate what we have. Some like to modernize with aluminum furniture, and others like to keep them in their original configuration. Jeremy opted to keep it mostly original, but added a pic rail for optic mounting. Repeaters will always have a place in the hearts of red blooded Americans who understand the importance of history.

....Same here, so it always was the biggest perk for me...Waiting on a used model 92 in .357/38 ...My first lever and thkugh its without the saddle ring and its has the normal loop I feel blessed since lever actions in anything other than .22 just never seem to be stock and when they are they don't stick around long.

I Shoot Rifle Left Handed(Left Eye-ed) Right Hand For Pistols(Right Hand-ed) So Pistol Mags Are on Left, Rifle Mags Are Right Side..
Love lever actions. Got hooked as a kid watching The Rifleman. There wasn’t one problem Chuck Connors couldn’t solve with that lever gun. The tactical rifle of the 1890s still has a place in the gun rack today. .357 or .45 long colt, is a good home defense round, especially in a suburban environment. It’s a good choice if you live in a place where an AR draws unwanted attention or the state has created a number of legal issues with possessing one.
This rifle will be a birthday gift for my father this year. He’s going to love it. Great video.

I'm a long time lever action kind of guy. My first one was handed down to me when I was 14 from my dad ( marlin Glenfield 30-30) , and now I'm 46 and I handed it to my son when he turned 14 this year. Of course I found and bought me another one just like it and my dad had done the same back when it was my turn. Since then I've added a henry big boy 45 lc and I absolutely love it. Great video, very well spoken . I agree with everything you had to say 100 percent.

WHY do people keep saying 45L?? There is NO such caliber. It is 45Colt Period. Look at the Ammo Box, it Clearly says 45Colt...
I have the 92 In . 44 mag/spc. Been carrying it for 18 years. Carrying one cal. For both hand gun and rifle. Big enough for hunting or defense here in the rockies. 12 in the rifle 6 in the one on my hip haven't found a problem 18 44 mags can't solve
I have a Henry lever action in 357 with brass chamber and octagonal barrel. I was thinking of selling it to buy another gun but when I opened the case and looked at it in all it’s glory I just couldn’t do it. Think I made the right choice!!!
The Red Dead intro got me. Great video, I love my Dad's Marlin lever gun.
What the intro to this video clearly shows is the absolute utility of a split bench seat in a pickup if your truck carries a gun in the backcountry. I’ve carried everything from a hunting rifle to a Mini14 to an AR between the seats. My back country vehicle has a console, and I miss being able to have my long guns so easily within reach.
Thanks for the video, I'm gonna go buy one now
357 level action is absolutely my home defense option 7 rounds plus able to tactically reload when / if needed. Also, 125g SJHP probably the most effective 2 legged predator round there is and don't have to worry about over penetration too much.
Great job putting this together.. and I love the look of the Henry Big Boy Carbine ❤ I have the brass model and I'm going to get the blued version sometime soon 😜
I like the old lever guns. Henry (original), Winchester, Marlin, etc. I have a couple and plan on keeping them for future generations to enjoy….
Love lever action more than AR because it is simplistic.
Beautiful well made rifle. I am awaiting delivery of the .357 version of the Henry Big Boy Lever Action. Great informative video

I have a Henry Big boy X in .45 Colt. Great fun! As far as furniture, the black synthetic it comes with is great. I haven't put any type of optic on it yet. It comes with a set of dang nice fiber optic sights.
What an awesome rifle! And an awesome video!
Have a Rossi R92 357. Had the red dot on but took it off for my PCC. I like the peep sight more as ive gotten faster with target acquisition using it.
I have a Henry All Weather, without the side loading gate, in .44 Magnum because my brother-in-law bought one with a side loading gate. I really like that rifle. Because of its’ presence, I didn’t use my grandfather’s Winchester 94 that was made in 1950 in “.30 WCF.” Maybe I would have seen a buck if I had the old .30-30 …

As a proud Henry fan boy, I own the X gun in 357/38. My main reasons are: cool factor, complements my pistol (Chiappa Rhino 40DS 357/38). I also run a red dot which gives combat effective hits out to 200yds.
We bought our Henry lever action 30/30 I love the rifle. Best investment i ever made
I have the Henry 30-30 Wildlife. It's silky smooth. I was able to improve the range with a Vortex scope. Been wanting to get the 357 to go with my El Patron. Im not into cowboy action but it looks like fun.
I've had a Henry and Ruger teamed-up in .44 mag., for years. I recently got/paired-up another pair but in .357, too. Trusty and lightweight but VERY effective for the tasks I expect to need them to do. I don't slap anything 'Fancy' onto any of them. I'm a huge believer in the K.I.S.S. principle. :-)

@@vincentrogister5006 🙂 I do appreciate the advancements in all things '2A related' but I'm never going to be one of those 'Keep up with the Joneses' type person. I own firearms with wood stocks/forgrips (Papa's M1 Garand being my most favorite!), and I own firearms with synthetic stocks, usually made out of stainless or 'Weather resistant' metals (Try living in any wet/humid environment and you'll find out why!). I just don't add another 5-10 POUNDS of attachments to anything, 'cause to me that really compromises their/the shooters skills and effectiveness in a 'SHTF' situation. If you've got all the time in the world, and your very life isn't on the line second-by-second, then hell, add whatever tickles yer fancies! tyvm for your reply!
I agree with you like that one just how it is.
what a sick look 🔥🔥
Because they're so dam cool. Every time I go to the range I get asked to try it.
Cool that you kept it minimally molested. You being a lefty I feel the need to mention the lever action is far more user friendly to a lefty than any right handed rifle. And these rifles come in everything from .22lr to 45-70 Oh and they can be converted to take down rifles and that allows the use of other barrel sets if you wanted to invest in that feature. It is expensive though. I own three lever guns Marlin 336 Uberti 1873 And a Shiloh sharps 1874
I'm left-handed, I have the same rifle, but I have the extra rounds held on the butt stock on the RIGHT side. It's easier for me to pull them out, then put them in from the same side.
That car exit with the slow motion swirly first round chambering looked cool. Not sure I’d ever want to flag my own face like that though.
A little fast and loose with the definition and advantage of repearers there but otherwise a good perspective that I generally agree with. 20 in barrels are nice in that you get 10 rounds in the magazine. The fixed magazine removes the concern of damaged or lost magazines. The tube mag also allows easy top up while still in battery. When it comes to slick and handy long guns the lever is hard to beat. And when it comes to character it is without peer. To the corrections, a repeater includes not just levers but also pump, bolt, and semi-auto actions. Also non-repeating cartridge arms existed prior to the repeaters which could load and fire one round every 2-3 seconds rather than one or two a minute for muzzle loaders.
Once you mentioned pooping on company time, I was in!
Got one. Thanks.
I have the 45-70 Golden Boy. But that is a nice level action rifle.
lol don’t “need” my Henry 357 but sure do love it. I put a light on a skinner sight rail and the leather buttstock shell holder. It’s done.

Ya i couldnt agree more, and im canadian i havent gotten one yet but my father in law has a win 94 in 30-30 and i hope some day i could buy that or inherit that gun. Agreed they arent really setup well to run optics and need a cheek riser and the old furniture is what gives it the look fiber optic peep sights more erganomic levers butt stock cover all good anything more and it loses that "heritage" look
357 levergun works well on 4 legged critters too.
I need a lever action because it will fulfill my cowboy fantasies. I’ve always wanted one I’m just too damn poor. On that pb&j survival diet rn
Lever Action is like Fork & Spoon when invented it never go away in the table!
Wow, this video inspired me to go buy a Marlin!
cowboy action shoot looks cool
If you want something better than buckhorn, get a Skinner peep. Looks right and a nice upgrade!
I have the same model in .44 mag. Less than 30 days old from Rice Lake. Your loop looks slightly bigger than mine, I wish it was like yours. Henry must’ve changed up the dimensions.
Great video, can you share the link for your cheek riser?
It's important to note that if you handload, then the 44mag can be easily tailored to match any gentle, soft-shooting 38 load you like, but it can also soar FAR beyond the power of even the hottest 357 loads. For versatility, the 44mag gets the nod.
@blainewright6060
3 ай бұрын
More versatile? Yes. Cooler? Probably. However, at twice the price, I’m sticking with .357. I can load 180gr cast bullets for about 22 cents per round. Heavy for caliber 44 Mag is gonna run me 35+ cpr. That’s not even counting the more expensive brass. Besides, my 180gr XTP load moves at around 1750-1800 fps from my Marlin 94 and that’s plenty for just about anything. My Cowboy action load is a 38 SPL with a 105gr TCFP that’s moving about 600 FPS. My .22 LR lever gun kicks harder! But you are correct, 44 SPL can be very soft shooting, and no amount of hot rodding will ever make a 357 put out more power than a 44.
@ajm2872
3 ай бұрын
@blainewright6060 great points 🫡 I try to streamline, so I only shoot 4 loads predominantly. A light 240 grain Keith "skeeter" load using HP38, a general purpose 240 grain Hardcast Keith with a max charge of H110, a defensive 240 grain xtp with a max charge of H110, and a heavy field load using a 300 grain hardcast WFN with a max charge of H110. I only have to buy 2 powders and 3 bullets, and there's no problem I can't solve 😁 My 240 skeeters only cost me about $0.29, with the xtp loads making me cry a bit at $0.45. I'm honestly considering just using kieths as a defensive load. I seem to remember doing the math and seeing that my "light loads" with HP38 are equal to a mid-range 357 in power? Either way, you're definitely beating me in cost per shot 🤣 I'm just invested is all. You know how it is.
@ajm2872

@blainewright6060 158 and 180 grain hardcast .358s are soooo good. Where do you get yours? I keep thinking that I'll step into the 357 world, buy a revolver and carbine, but I always come back to the same math. Just to break even on the cost of the guns and extra reloading components, I would have to shoot something like 35,000 rounds 🤣 So I guess I'm stuck as a 44 man 😁

@@ajm2872 I usually shoot the Missouri Bullet Company Hi-Tek coated Strikers. I think they’re like 12 cents a piece or something, but they’re actually hard cast with a BHN of 18. The 105s run me a whopping 9 cents and I use literally 1 cent worth of Clays behind them. Crazy cheap.
I have the color case hardened version, rifle length though. Very much 👍
I have the full length in 357 also run a holosun green dot
The classic 30-30 is the one I carry living out here in the boonies.
Nice !!!!
It should also be mentioned that pistol cartridges out of even a carbine ups the speed and power considerably!
I liked the smash button real good.
Thanks brother. Where did you get the stock cover? Cheers
I have the 357 Henry lever action, but mine doesn’t have the side gate but that’s ok 10+1 !

Dang I was hoping you had some in stock to sell. I’ve been looking for a bit as I chest carry either a Ruger Match or G20 while hiking/camping, for brown bear. I’ve been dying to find a nice 357 lever to go with the wheel gun. I can always take my great gpa’s 1894 he bought in 1917 but I’m just wanting to take one round not multiple.
GunMagWarehouse made a video about how you need a gun that they can’t sell you a mag for
@GunMagWarehouseTV
22 күн бұрын
We did! And we sell a lot more than mags now.
that intro must have taken a million tries to hit the target in the exact right spot each shot!
Oh no, what's this nerd got to say. I was pleasantly surprised. You can acquire your target and shoot very fast with these. And I've seen a couple that break tradition with box magazines. Allowing you to shoot armor piercing rounds. Home defense for sure. Self defense, I wouldn't rule it out in the right configuration.
Cuz they're GD AWESOME! End video lol
I am still learning. But the "Skinner sights"; those are the rear sight being a ring near the very back; right? I absolutely love those. Does Henry sell those or something? I would love this exact model as a SHTF rifle with skinner irons. I live in a restrictive area. I can technically get a "featureless" AR style 10 rounder. But it doesnt fit me as a lefty and I just loathe the way they look. I find ARs and modern weapons VERY UGLY save for some of the pistols. I would prefer to have a .357 lever, maybe a 9mm pcc, and a 12 gauge shotgun for my long guns. I already have a plethora of handguns. I wanted to pair this with my Taurus 65.
He said like that smash button 😂
Woke up one fine Spring morning last year and told my wife that I wanted a "Lever Action Rifle". She said: "Then you better go get one"! What a gal!! Bought the Henry .22 and LOVE it. Now I'm going back to get the Henry .357. Question: I know that it comes down to what personally "feels right"; but how easy is it to remove that Holosun Red Dot? I've actually never shot w/ a Red-Dot....But might be a good thing to have.....Any thoughts for this newbie; before I, "pull the trigger"?

less blocking your view of the target, but there are pros and cons to both really.
What's that for a cheek riser?
Pure and simple. 357 rifle and pistol one ammo type. Better than 9 mm or 44 mag. Zero to 100 yds. Hit anything in this state. Though not legal by dlnr standards. On private land no one will bother. Maybe a shotgun and long range rifle but beats try to stockpile different rounds with different combinations.
I have a JM Marlin with red dot! Works great out to 100yds which is what I consider its practical range limit.

This rifle is legal in all 50 states. 357 lever carbine will get the job done.
Actually much prefer the Rossi 1892 Winchester clone, but I don't trick it out for urban warfare. Although they aren't a bad choice....
I had a 1950 model 30-30 and sold it ugh!

Nice to see another "lefty"
Being a lefty, I prefer lever action or gas guns. Bolt action just doesn’t do it. Henry Silver Boy (.22), Winchester 94 (30-30), any game can be taken. The LeveRevolution ammo renders the centerfire pointed tip safety issue moot.
Please what site is that me want.

Lefty nation 🤩
If you live in a fascist state that does not allow you to own a semi automatic rifle in the AR or AK platform, then the lever action is a viable choice for a home defense rifle. I have been looking at possibly getting Henry's Big Boy X in .357 magnum and dressing it up with a tacti-cool handguard & butstock. The handguard & butstock will allow me to mount two 8 round quivers to keep ammo handy as well as allow me to mount a light for nighttime use. If I had a vintage lever action, I would definitely keep it all stock and original but for now, I am searching for something that would meet my needs at the moment.
Aside from bad eyesight, there is no excuse for mounting a reddot on a classic lever action rifle 😉😄
