How creative you are. Make them a salad. I love that idea. I am watching this to get some ideas. If all goes well, and my worm population grows, I will try to remember to let you know.

Lazy me left a box out near the garbage can for a couple weeks. It started breaking down after two rain cycles. When I finally got around to picking the box up, there were probably 2 or 3 dozen worms under the cardboard. It was a pleasant surprise that grossed out the Mrs. Now I intentionally want to capture some worms for harvesting. Not sure why this didn't work. The box I used was fairly large, and it was on concrete (which is where the worms run to when it rains to avoid drowning). The concrete would also make it easy for harvesting because the little buggars have no where to run to when they are exposed to the light.

Lady we got our worms from told me to put a rotten melon rind on ground covered with box the worms should find it..they love the rotting materials and really thrive in used coffee grounds. Can also use the melon to gather up worms out of castings in bin system. Have not tried this last step but will soon. Have some melon rinds getting ready for them.

Yeah that hasn't been a problem lately, It's been raining every day this week. On the dryer days I've been wetting the cardboard. One day I dumped out my cold pot of coffee too, I hear they love that stuff :)

I think this would work very well if I hadn't used so many chemicals on the ground in the past. If you look at one of my later videos, "Worm Hunting Fail" you'll see I didn't get any worms this way. I ended up getting some red wiggler worms from a nearby neighbor.

Did you have any luck? I am in Roseburg Oregon and I cant find any red wiggler farms near me. I really want to start a red wiggler vermiculture composting bin.

My ground was pretty dead. A year or so later, I put a couple of feet deep of wood chips down on top of my whole yard, and within a year, I could pull worms right out of the ground underneath me. I eventually was able to start a successful worm bin. Maybe start with a pile of wood chips?

I ordered some from ebay finally, should be here any day, have a cozy little home waiting for them in 4 inches of rich home made compost. I am impatient so I had to give it a kick in the ass.
