That second shot was pretty dead on. It's good to see someone that young being so disciplined about which bull to shoot. Great hunt.

Randy, your videos are the best. Your passion for the animals and our public lands are unmatched keep up the great work. Your nephew did the right thing holding out for the bull he wanted, it was his hunt and he had an image in mind.

your videos have made me want to go after an Elk now. I appreciate all of your videos, but more importantly sharing the non successful hunts. It took me several years before I was able to get my first white tail buck.

It looked like the 1st shot back in the gut--where did that 1st shot hit--just curious looking at the 308 cal. For backcountry--have the 270 and the 300- heavy---just thinking about the ultra rifles Kimber or Howa. If you want I can pm my beauty of a bull this year down the road we're I live timber bull--with the bow here in southern Wyoming--I taught is Ashland-mt--great wildlife in the Custer--still have some ranching families there.

Thanks. Cody is a great guy. The summer after this hunt, he left for four years in the Marines. He just got out about a month ago. It was great to take him on his first elk hunt and see him have success. Best of luck to you this season.

Thats great, although it must be hard to have family gone for such a long time. and thanks, good luck to you as well. Im 15 and just moved to Colorado from North Carolina. I am looking forward to deer/elk season, although I know nothing about this type of hunting. I am used to the southern "sit in a tree" method haha. your videos have really gotten me excited about it though. I have also wanting to film my hunts in the future, and watching your videos made it seem like I could do it without having a fancy high fence ranch or guide service. I have always loved watching your show, keep up the awesome work : )

Gandiva01 - Good luck. Don't get discouraged. I moved to Montana and I did not kill an elk until my 6th season. I made every possible mistake. As for filming, yeah, you can easily find adequate equipment. Just expect filming to mess up some of your hunts.

Randy, I never, ever watch hunting on TV! I got sick and tired of seeing people hunting to stoke their ego, standing over kills with no respect to the animal years ago. Your show has none of that! I've been watching religiously since last fall after accidently running across it looking for mauser rifle info and continue to be a fan. Thanks for the excellent videos and a breath of fresh air!

Thank you for those kind comments. We try our best to tell a story. Our story is about the animal and conservation. Sometimes we are successful, sometimes not. In all instances we give it a good effort. Thanks for watching. Best to you this season.

He is just off his four year Marine Corps enlistment and I might ask him to join me on another hunt. The great part of hunting is that the tag holder gets to decide what he wants from the hunt. Call it picky, if you want. I'll call it disciplined.
