So excited for this dress!! Nick Cave (the vampire himself) has been my favourite artist for about 15 years, so I was all over the TVW when it launched and even wore the Sky Rocket Dress in pink as my wedding dress. It just so happens that his wife and I both like extremely beautiful dresses and she started making them, lol. I'd never worn anything with French bust darts before and immediately noticed how much they flatter the bust and sit so well over it (I'm a DD so it's not uncommon for things to not fit right in that area) so I definitely think they're utilised in a lot of her designs. I've got another (cotton) TVW dress I bought on sale and also leapt on the H&M collab they did several years back so I've got a few pieces in my wardrobe but obviously the crown jewel is the Sky Rocket. Also yes, it is deeply unhinged to toile a pattern with Liberty silk, but I love that for you! Really looking forward to seeing the final design & the dress you make for the tutorial!

Oh wow, thank you for this lovely comment and the rundown of your Susie Cave love story 💜 It’s amazing you wore the sky rocket to your wedding, it’s such a beauty! I’m sure you were the most fashionable statement bride.

I really enjoy watching your design process. Would you consider making a video one day on how to transform a regular dart to a curved dart and showing why a curved dart is so much more flattering? I think that would be really interesting. Just a thought. Incase you ever run out of ideas for videos i mean...! 😁

Great suggestion, thank you! I have done a bodice modification video before, I could definitely do one again showing how to draft this type of dart. I'll keep it in mind! :)

I love the different variations you can do with this pattern. I could even adjust the sleeves to be 3/4 or long and fuller if I wanted. Excellent design and very classic yet modern. ❤👍

Yesss, love to hear it! The pattern will have the mini and midi options included, but extending the skirt to make it full length will be super easy! The pattern will launch in a few weeks from now, so you will have plenty of time to make it for the wedding :)

I love your vlogs and those lovely dresses you design. Incidentally I made a version of the VWD based on your previous tutorial when you used that berry coloured fabric (cord I think). I changed the neckline to v-neck as it suits me better and also used Liberty silk and am very happy with it. I am looking forward to more vlogs.

I am so excited to hear this! I love the silhouette of the Vampire's Wife dresses. I love that Affliction Dress and the Confessional Dress that is very close to it in appearance. I would most definitely purchase this pattern from you. I am currently working on a knock off of the Falconetti dress and I want to make many more knockoffs of the different Vampire's wife dresses. I am having some problems getting the fitting issues correct on my knock off, but I hope I am close.

I find these designing videos fascinating. I love the high collar/ neckline of this dress because it’ll lengthen my 159 cm 😅. Do you think this pattern would work in a cotton velvet, I haven’t tried shirring on velvet before. I was thinking of making a navy or purple velvet or micro-cord Ophelia for the end of the year … but now I am torn between that and this upcoming pattern 😊

  • @ThrillsandStitches

Definitely yes to the cotton velvet! The pattern is beautiful because it works in virtually any fabric, except maybe knit. So you can go wild with your imagination!

Hi! That's a reasonable suggestion - I do have a front dart in the skirt of my Ophelia dress, and I understand what it does. I am currently in the test phase of this pattern and will see how the skirt fits for the bigger sizes :)

Would you consider making any dresses similar to the new Sézane dresses that came out this spring? Like the Reneka or Dorotha? Maybe even a blouse like the Alvere or emma? 😊

Hi! :) I definitely would - the Reneka reminds me of Georgias Portfolio's George dress, the neckline is very similar. I like the bodice of Dorotha dress, I will keep it in mind. Thanks for the ideas! :)
