    Once again this video gave me all the info I needed to repair a Hunter Douglas Duette LiteRise lift. Thank you! Later, my wife called Hunter Douglas to get replacement lift tabs; they told her there is a lifetime warranty and sent her several for free. I purchased replacement motor and transmission on line, but they might have been free from Hunter Douglas.

    Woks as described, thanks a lot! My shades are slightly different, but the mechanism is the same. I add some hints: before taking off the old mechanism, take a few pictures, your shade might have different mounting attachments at the end or in the middle of the mechanism. Second: like the video shows, before coupling the mechanism make sure the strings are completely deployed, mines were just a couple of turns rolled, and that blocked the whole thing for a while, until I discovered it. Thanks again for the video!

Could you have left both transmission stops on then remove them both of them after snapping on the motor. Also what would happen if you didnt pull the shade down before removing the motor shaft stop. Would the shade still operate.

    Top down BottomUp shades are best done with two people. One person holds the shade so both the bottom rail and the intermediate rail are fully extended away from the top headrail and the lift cord will be bailed off both sets of lift spools. The other person will position the new lift assembly in place making sure the transmission adapter and motor adapter pins are seated into the punch holes in the aluminum slat. Slide the assembly back into the headrail and pull the white motor stop/lock off the motor to complete the procedure.

    Yes both the bottom rail and the intermediate rail will be fully extended down all the way so no lift cord is on any of the cord lift spools. Then install the lift assembly and pull the pin.

    I have a shade with a four motor set up. The motors fresh back from repair, snapped out and unfortunately unwound. The transmission and all other parts look good. Is there a way to wind the motor back and reinstall? I may need to improvise for transmission pins and motor locks as well since I don't have these.

  • @automatedshadeinc4154

    @automatedshadeinc4154

    5 жыл бұрын

    Usually when the motors unwind really fast the steel spring inside the motor either breaks or is compromised. If you can wind the motors 42 turns clockwise then they are still usable - if not then trash. The transmissions are very hard to wind back up so the string occupies every groove on the conical cylinder. I have not been very successful at doing this. If you are successful at rewinding the transmission then you could use a paper clip as a pin lock. After locking the transmission, snap each wound motor to the transmission to hold in place. Once assembled, maybe get a thin piece of wire ad wrap the assembly longwise to hold together so it does not come apart. Other option is to send back for another repair or purchase all new components. Hope this helps. Bill

    If you check the website there is a note about this: "Note: If your shade has a WHITE Transmission: Replace with a RED Transmission for shades widths less than 48" or a BLACK transmission for shades over 48" wide." So I think the transmission you need for your 104" shade is the black one.

    Yes...sometimes the motors can be re-used but if the small cord in the transmission breaks (which is usually the case), then the motors unwind rapidly and the internal spring inside the motor breaks most of the time. If you can rewind the motor per the instructions on the website 42 turns then you can re-use it. After repairing HUNDREDS of these shades, I replace ALL the components so the entire assembly is fresh and ready for duty. If you are going to tackle the job then I would strongly suggest doing it with NEW motors and related components! Doing it any other way is unreliable.
