I felt like Ginny’s friends DEFINITELY peer pressured her into dating him. And she did it for the white friend validation. I feel like along the way she tricked herself into thinking she was in love with him just like how she tricked herself into thinking she straightened her hair to look more “mature” when she actually did it so she’d fit in more with her friends.

Yes but connecting over trauma or pain is a thing because it makes you feel less alone when you have someone next to you who has dealt with difficult things as well. Btw calling someone "damaged" pushes a lot more characters and real people in a narrative of being reduced to their trauma/pain which is kinda mean
