Learn Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Johannes Brahms on piano with this tutorial! Please enjoy!
Johannes Brahms is one of the most well-known and loved German composers from the Romantic period. His Hungarian Dances (1869) are a set of works that were based on Hungarian themes. Although Hungarian Dance No. 5 is the most famous of the Hungarian Dances, it was actually based on another composition called "Bártfai emlék", or "Memories of Bártfa", which Brahms mistakenly identified as a traditional folksong. In reality, it was written by Hungarian composer Béla Kéler.
This solo piano arrangement of Hungarian Dance No. 5 is perfect for pianists of moderate technical ability! It features an oom-pah accompaniment throughout and some of the technical difficulties have been reduced to make it more accessible for pianists with smaller hands who may struggle to strike octaves in succession. It would be a perfect addition to any concert or recital!
Arranged by Andrew Wrangell
Edited by Samuel Dickenson

Hungarian Dances, set of 21 dances composed by Johannes Brahms. Originally intended for two pianists, the dances were published in that form in two sets in 1869 and in 1880. Some were orchestrated by Brahms himself, and others were orchestrated by his colleagues, including Antoni Dvorak. The Hungarian Dancescapitalized upon two musical trends of the 19th century. One such trend was for dance-style pieces written for piano four-hands (a single piano played by two pianists). The other was for compositions inspired by Europe’s diverse blend of minority cultures, particularly the Roma(Gypsy) culture which was, if not specifically Hungarian, at least strongly identified with that nation. Both Hungarian-style music and piano four-hands music made early entrances into Brahms’s life. He discovered the excitement of Central European folk music as a youth and began writing piano duets while still in his 20s. One important influence was the Hungarian violinist Eduard Reményi, whom Brahms had heard in concert at age 17. Three years later Brahms served as Reményi’s accompanist at the piano. Brahms’s familiarity with piano four-hands music and his exposure to authentic Hungarian dances led him to try his hand at composing Hungarian-style pieces, for which he knew there would be a ready-made audience.

I read somwhere that brahms' hungarian dance no. 3 is originally belongs to Eduard Remenyi. When he finds out it got him angry. But brahms' didn't find any reason not to publish it. I could be wrong.

@Your local professional idiot. No one's going to believe me, but I've kept asking SMB to play Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 way before people started asking Rousseau to do the same. Rousseau has to learn and play the entire 10 minute piece flawlessly, smile SMB can basically copy paste from IMSLP and put it in their synthesia like they've done with many other classical music pieces. Edit: this is also the first time I've been receiving likes and even a heart from SMB. All my other attempts have been overlooked and drowned by other comments. Hence I don't think people will believe me and what I'm saying here.

The plan was to compose dances based on Hungarian tunes, that's what he did with this dance, just that is not really Hungarian, he got it wrong and thought it was. Some other dances, a few I think, were original, without any Hungarian tune preexisting.

I went back to Moshi Monsters for the first time in ages a few days ago, and they use this piece of music (albeit slightly different) for one of the minigames (Whack A Glump, I believe it's called) and I got very excited. No-one else seems to understand but, oh well.
