Today i explore a junkyard that has been abandoned for decades and now taken over by mother nature and lost in the woods.

    A very interesting visit to this sanctuary where vehicles that have been withdrawn from circulation for years rest. Among all these beautiful sleeping American cars, two Swedish rarities deserve attention: at 4:05 a pretty 1972 SAAB SONETT III sports coupe which with its fiberglass body does not fear rust. at 6:01 another SAAB coupe, a 96 V4 model from the 1970s, which keeps company with the VOLKSWAGEN COMBI camper van.

    @@lamateur2004the Sunbeam brought back memories of a Sunbeam Tiger my Dad and I worked on, he bought it cheap , I was his daughter but he joked I was his boy cause I worked on cars with him and my Mom's girl cause I could cook and bake from scratch. @@monsterglo Thank you for sharing with us the memory of your father's Sunbeam Tiger. As I have said ; succeeding in identifying an abandoned and forgotten car is already a satisfaction; but collecting testimonials from people who have owned, driven, maintained these vehicles from another era is even more rewarding!!

    The fact that all these historic cars were simply left behind makes your heart bleed. Such a sad sight.

  • @JeffKopis

    @JeffKopis

    But "historic" only becomes clear thru the lens of time. At the time they were abandoned, they were very common, and nothing special. The one that caught my eye was the '67 Galaxie 500 Fastback. There was also a 68 or 69 Dodge Coronet, but I couldnt see how many doors it had.

    I would also point out that the cars here are the LUCKY ones; decrepit or not, they still exist, whereas probably 70% of their contemporaries have long since been crushed, and made into Chevy Citations, Ford Tempos, and Chrysler minivans.

    Imagine all those vehicles looking like they did when they rolled off the assembly line, parked side by side in a big open field, shining like a new penny. There were all brand new at one time, some of them were maybe even in the showroom of the dealership where they were sold. Some of those vehicles might have been the sale that made Bob, salesman of the month at Belvedere Ford! You just never know! Glad you went back and recorded that tour, thanks for sharing it with us!

    Wow Jay! Seriously, probably my favorite video yet even with the abrupt ending😊. I could totally spend a whole day in that place. That police car is a real mystery. First off it’s probably the latest car you looked at. It’s an 80s Ford, Crown Victoria. Looks like it still has it complete police package including a radar unit and original radio/PA system. The weirdest thing is the name. It’s misspelled for PA. I couldn’t find a Pittsburg New Jersey but there is a Pittsburg New Hampshire. A town way up on the Canadian border. It has NJ plates though. Like I said a real mystery. Thanks for a great video. You are the best.

    Actually people who love cars do that. If they hated these cars they would have all been sent to the crusher long ago. Someone used these to strip off parts to restore other cars. Now they themselves could be restored if someone had the skill and time to do so. I’d rather see them abandoned than crushed any day.
