Humvee Build - HMMWV Winch Operation and Testing

Humvee Build - HMMWV Winch Operation and Testing
This video showed the basic operation of the Mile Marker (MileMarker) hydraulic winch. I tested and showed some of the capabilities of this winch by pulling one Humvee with another Humvee. I dragged the Humvee with the winch and showed the winch's power.
Thanks for watching!! Hope you enjoyed..

its a good safety practice to put a coat, or blanket on the winch cable so that if the cable snaps, thres something to push the cable down - doenst always work, but its better than a flying cable coming back at you at mach20

There is no charging system. the Mile Marker 10,500lb hydraulic winch runs of the power steering pump hydraulic circuit. It's not an electric winch

6:42 so I tried googling winch weight and all the results just mention winch cables or winches themselves. I've never had to use a winch before so what does a winch weight actually do? Also talking about the parking brake...have you thought about applying the improved parking brake MWO? That one uses the rear wheel brakes instead of the shitty driveline brake - I've read a few cases of humvees rolling down even the slightest incline because the factory parking brake couldn't hold the vehicle. There was one particular case where a guy came back from shopping at the supermarket to find his vehicle had rolled half way into the lane of the parking lot lol

A winch weight pretty much weighs down the winch cable to prevent it from whipping back in the event of the cable breaking which can be very dangerous. Imagine trying to throw the end of a rope with something weighing it down from the center. The end wouldn't get very far and would hit the ground. I would like to eventually upgrade the parking brake. I set mine very tight so it will even hold on an incline. some day I'll get around to it though. Hopefully I'll never look out the window at the supermarket and see my Humvee rolling into traffic hahaha!

Ahh, thought as much - after I posted that comment I was going to edit it to ask if it was to stop the cable from whipping back but then I got sidetracked and forgot heh. Apparently if you plan on upgrading the trans to the 4l80e you'll need to upgrade the parking brake anyway. Also lets you upgrade the fuel tank as well if you feel like that too.

Logan Driscoll I think they are just the regular Goodyear MT tires, they are just pretty new.
