The mega live was not worth waiting for if this the best humminbird can do. I have the garmin and by far its way better than the humminbird mega live. I looking forward to switching but if this is all we getting I'm glad I didn't sell my garmin so fast.

I have a full humminbird network and an Ultrex but got tired of waiting and went with a livescope and 102sv and im blown away by it...glad i didnt wait

I’m not sure how anyone could compare this as even in the same ball park as LiveScope. It’s pretty simple, Hummingbird SI+ console, Hummingbird 360 bow and Garmin LiveScope bow with 12 inch unit.

I am so glad that I did not prepay for the mega live. I am about to change out all my electronics on my boat and now I will be going a different route Hummingbird user for over 15 years. Garmin 12 in bow with HB console 12 in Mega SI just for the back of the boat and waypoints and ipilot link system for trolling motor.

Looks like 360 is what the bird rules. I like the simplicity of their set up tho. But all the extra “vcr” stuff could be why the livescope is so clear and fast.

Yeah... I've be thinking on why Humminbird made their Mega Live the way they did... And it makes sense now to me. Video coming soon to explain.

Thanks for posting but truthfully, I wouldn't even consider any of the "live style" systems ( Garmin, Lowrance or Hummingbird) - considering the cost, the image quality is terrible. It's a cool idea, but even after several years development by very knowledgeable companies they still haven't got it working much better than when I used to aim the transducer from my 2330 flasher horizontally to see if there were fish under the dock. Instead of MEGA Live Hummingbird should concentrate on a multiple transducer array for their MEGA 360 system. The current MEGA 360 has the image quality and as is, is 90% of the solution - all they need to do is have the screen update a couple of times a second. To do that, you need a transducer array that can be poled electronically instead of a single transducer that (mechanically) sweeps in a circle.

@@robintaylor1490 Hi Robin, The lakes I fish (for bass and walleyes) are very clear and by summer the fish are holding on structure 25-35 feet down or suspended out over 100 + feet of water. Think that a MEGA 360 style display with a rapid (real time) update would be ideal for that kind of application.

I have to be honest I have been waiting for this like many people, I run a Solix system and this unit makes me feel like I went from a HD tv back to UHF black and white. Will save my money for now. Look what happened with the Mega 360 how much better it is in just a few years. I will wait out the rush and see what shakes out. Its really not worth changing brands one you are invested in a network of products. Learn to use what you have to its fullest potential and don't chase the tech. The vast majority of us are not making Millions fishing and will catch fish with or without it.

Hopefully they make some tweaks to increase clarity before it is released. I think everyone was expecting them to corner the market with Live, 360, Mega SI but Garmin is still going to be on top at this point

Because of their all in one transducer maybe they don’t have the 6 sound heads built in like their competition??

Quality is comparable to Lowrance Livesight with lower range (21 vs 135). So all in all go with Livesight and Active Target to have the best Live transducers setup.

Maybe they sacrificed quality by not using the processor box that Garmin and Lowrance used. It does look closer to the quality of LiveSight which is bad. I like the quality of my Active Target. Sometimes I see the fins on the fish. And It is awesome to see how the fish react to your bait or don’t react.

Yes, more like LiveSight than Active Target. I know what you mean about seeing the fins...I was out with a friend last week and we saw a 3 lb smallie swimming plain a day on it.

They all have their advantages depending on how you fish. 360 is extremely valuable if you still fish a lot or anchor (spot lock)

I don't know what to think ... It doesn't look like much maybe it's because it just looks like some fireflies on the screen to me a and the other one rsembles flames. I guess in the water it probably looks better but I'm thinking it's to video game ish is expect it to be more movie like then what it is. That's my take on it so over all not super impressed and that pan optic s that everyone rages about seems about the same but worse because there's no separation at least a not in the Demos I've seen. So at this point I'm good with the side imaging and D's ... Until I see it on the water anyways, that's where I stand on it

@@loydtromblay411 I went with Garmin echomap uhd series. Not super expensive, but still makes out structure grass etc. Live scope compatible. Sideview not as clear as bird but waaaay cheaper. I hear bad things about lowrance cs but images look good I just didn't wanna chance it if I got a dud. Got the striker 9sv plus on bow but fixing to get another echo 9uhd to go there so can share waypoints etc between the two. My .02

I'm on the fence. I think its definitely a first gen product and everyone has to start somewhere. I think a lot of ppl are asking for a $50,000 sonar for $1500 bucks. There has to be some trade offs. With that said I wont be buying one yet. I do however think they will get it right. Look at gen 1 360, that thing was a load of crap compared to the new mega 360. We just didnt call it crap because no other company had something to compare it to. We all look at the gold standard and think everyone has to start there. Take for example Nvidias RTX graphics cards, they are on gen 2 and beat the competitors. However, AMD jumping in the game with their gen 1 is always better for the market and AMD will catch up. The question is when. Just like Humminbird will catch up.

Very true. Lowrance was in the same boat a couple years ago with theirs. I guess the only thing to wonder is if Garmin is going to blow everyone away again before the others do

@@InDepthSonar i don’t think garmin will walk away with it. I’ve done a lot a metal working, in metal working it’s easy to go from a 200 surface finish to a 64. It’s hard to go from a 64 to 32 or better. With that, HB is a 200 right now and can jump to 64. Where Garmin at a 64 will have a tough time getting to 32. Confusing I know lol. But it’s easier to take crap and becoming better. It’s hard to be better and become even better.

That makes sense... It's hard to make a huge difference on an already great product... It's like updates on phones 5 years ago. We'd get all these cool new features... Now updates are hardly noticeable.

It might not be the clearest out there, but it's certainly better than not having any real time sonar.

Just keep waiting. Then when you get it you can sell it for half what it’s worth and get livescope.

I even told them don't come out with your product until you take your 360 Imaging and turn that into live Imaging could have been simply fantastic but everybody's in a hurry and no one wants to listen to anybody maybe someday somebody we'll invent 360 Live Imaging it would be a game-changer when we can see the fish scales and know the species and we can chuck our lures and watch them bad boys come over and grab our lure holler if you hear me what I speak about is the real deal if you know what I mean

I don't think HB mega live can hang with Garmin live. I'll go with a 12 inch garmin bundle on the TM. Don't like the "pole" crap. But that's a personal opinion.

im going to do that same thing. Super disappointed. Its sad we had to wait while garmin blew past hummingbird. i thought the mega live would have just blew them out of the water. We will see when the gen 2 mega live comes out so we will wait for improvement.

Disappointed!! Should have been atleast quality an clarity of Garmin otherwise guys are gonna buy Garmin. The pros have already showed that mixing brands isn't an issue and we want the best clarity there is.
