John Walker - Yes, the Helix 7 G2 CHIRP GPS would be the exact same unit, just a larger screen. The shuttle, cover, battery, and transducer are all the same.

John Walker - They are pretty simple units once you know the menu screens. This one was fresh out of the box with the only setting changed being “Ice Mode” instead of “Open Water” mode. If you have an issue, leave a comment and I’ll do my best to help you out.

One other question I have do u have to keep changing your lower limits every time u move and r fishing a new water depth thank u

Hi John. Sorry, I just saw this question. I have it set to Auto Depth so it automatically adjusts.

Hi mark under which setting is the chirp for elimating when my freind fishes to close and in order to pick my lure up better is that the gain setting thanks

John Walker - IR is changed by pressing the checkmark button. It cycles through the 6 different settings each time you press it.

HI Mark thanks for the reply my question is which setting make all,the imfo on the screen smaller or ever disappear and u see on this vid the imfo on the left side of the screen can u elimate that so u have the whole scree to see fish thank u John

John Walker - I haven't seen a setting where you can change the presence or size of that information. It may be there somewhere but I just haven't seen it.

John Walker - I finally got back out on the water and looked into your question more. The answer is yes, you can turn that info off. Go into your main menu, setup, scroll down to “Digital Readouts”. You can select off, overlay (the default) or boxes. Hope that helps.

is this the GPS CHIRP G2? or the Helix 5 ICE? i have the helix 5 chirp gps g2, but how do you get into the updated screen???? could be i have the un-updated software

Rush Voorhis Outdoors - The only difference between the standard Helix 5 Portable and the Ice version is the transducer it is shipped with. In this case I bought the standard portable version and added the XI 9 1521 ice transducer so I can use it in either season. With respect to the screen being different from yours, there was an update in September. Ensure you have that update installed. You can also have different screens visible by pressing “Menu” twice, and scrolling right to the “Views” tab. This sub menu allows you to make the various screens visible or hidden.

I have the Helix 5 G2 Chirp and can't get it to go into Ice fishing mode. It'll say its on but none of the features work, and it doesn't reboot and go into Ice mode like I've seen on so many videos ..not sure what to do? It may be a defective unit?

Rob Blasko - That seems quite odd. As soon as I select ice mode it resets, as you say. If yours isn’t doing that I would contact Humminbird or return it to your retailer for a different one.

Yup software update cured screen freezes in water under 10'.

Rush Voorhis Outdoors - You can put the unit in “Ice Mode” by pressing Menu twice, selecting the “Sonar” tab, and scrolling to the bottom of the menu.

I need that bag. Do you know the model? And does it come with the mount?

rinkrat55 This unit came with the bag and the mount. Humminbird does make a portable kit that includes the bag, mount, 9ah 12v battery, and the ice transducer. You should be able to find the model name on the Humminbird site.
