Hummers Offroad At Windrock! - Rock Garden Hill Climb - Hummer H1, H2, and H3

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Offroad footage from The Hummer Club Inc’s October 23rd and 24th, 2020, offroad event at Windrock Park, Tennessee. We had a good mixture of Hummer H1s, Hummer H2s, and Hummer H3s come out for the event. This specific video focuses on one of the harder obstacles we did on Day 1 which was a Rock Garden hill climb. This will be the first of a few videos that I will be uploading from this event. Enjoy!

I have thought about Solid axle swapping it but I just decided to build my 2018 rubicon. I run a 5.7 hemi swap with pro rock 44 dyna tracs front a rear, built T case, gears, lockers, shafts, truss, sleeves, gussets, sliders, I can go on but sad I really liked my hummer. They currently do not sell it on their website, but you might be able to get one from them, made to order. You would have to contact them about that. When they were being sold, they were $2350. roadarmor.com/ Other heavy duty H3 bumper alternatives that you take a look at is ARB, Iron Bull, MOVE, and Tough Country.

    So I'm trying to decide on a Hummer H3 or a FJ Cruiser. Not really used to off roading but I wanted to try something new. Is the Hummer pretty easy to get parts for?. I live in Idaho and alot of the 4 wheel drive vehicles have super high mileage. So I'll probably have to buy a new engine or something major in terms of components. But I'm not affrad of putting some work in if needed. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

  • @4lowmode

    @4lowmode

    3 жыл бұрын

    The Hummer H3 is a fun vehicle but some aftermarket parts are very hard to come by and rare. For example, we no longer have any companies making a suspension lift for the H3. There were two companies in the past that use to make 4in Lift kits, but they discontinued them. So now the only lift kit options out there is to do a 1.25in body lift, shackle lift, and T-Bar crank. Past that point, if you want something, you will have to basically design and fabricate your own suspension. This is commonly known as a SAS or Solid Axle Swap. That white H3 you saw in the video had a SAS done to it. This can cost anywhere from $5-$20K. But yeah the 4in lift was the go to option before it was discontinued. In order to get this rare lift kit nowadays, people will often make sure to buy an H3 for sale that already has one installed. I actually did this myself. Some people go as far as to buying an entire other H3 just to take the lift kit off the truck and then go put the lift kit on their H3 then they take all old stock parts off their H3 and put them on the donor vehicle and then sell it. If a used 4in lift kit is ever sold by itself, the asking price for it is usually like 3K to 5K even though the original MSRP when new was 2.5K. Other than the lift kit, you can still get parts for the H3 such as bumpers, skid plates, rock rails, LED headlights/tail lights, roof racks, snorkels, floor mats, etc. The only thing that I will say is that parts such as these that I just mentioned are not on a single website, but scattered in different places. Also, you will not see a lot of this stuff on Amazon. For some products, you have to buy straight from the manufacture’s website because that is the only place these parts will be listed for sale. So the Hummer H3 came in 3 engine options: 3.5L Inline 5 Cylinder (only in 2006), 3.7L Inline 5 Cylinder, and 5.3L V8. If you plan on getting a 5 cylinder, those engines only last around 180K-220K miles. So if you are buying in that range, expect to do a engine replacement soon. New remanufactured 5 cylinder engines can be around 4K-5K, but if you get an engine out of a parts or salvage truck it can be cheaper at $1k to $3k. The 5.3L V8 will last much longer. Those will typically go up to 300K-350K miles before they need an engine replacement. In terms of OEM replacement parts, you can still get everything you need. Driveline components, sensors, engine parts, etc you can still get. Some parts you can easily find at auto parts stores, others you will have to order from online places such as Rock Auto or amazon. In a few cases, you might have to buy from places GM Genuine Parts, but they will usually have the parts in stock. eBay is another great option to go with if you need used parts or something you can’t find new. You get easily get things like body panels, trim pieces, etc. The only bad thing on eBay, is some of the sellers are nuts and are asking a high price for some their parts for sale. I do want say that a lot of aftermarket parts you buy for an off-road build are universal. Things like winches, off-road lights, CB radios, wheels & tires, wiring harnesses, storage systems, high lift jacks, air compressors, gas cans, upgraded car batteries, recovery equipment, double din head units tuning software, etc you can get from a number of places. So that is the Hummer H3. It’s a fun, more unique vehicle to own, but its more low key and less common vehicle to see than a Jeep. Lol the one bad thing about doing a off-road build on a Jeep is that everything you can think of has already been done and there is always some one out there that is willing to spend 10 times more money than you, so it is really hard to have a unique build. Okay, anyway that’s my thoughts on the Hummer H3 specifically. That being said, if you want a Hummer H1 or H2, parts are a lot more common. I know for both the H1 and H2 there are multiple different lift kit options. I don’t know as much about the H1 and H2, but I know getting aftermarket parts or oem replacement parts isn’t a problem. Let me know if this helps and if you have more questions, I would be happy to answer them. You can reach on instagram @acer4lo or Facebook, the account name is Acer Miller. Hope this helps!

    @@4lowmode thanks for the reply. All the info you gave me definitely will help and knowing that parts a scarce in terms of the lift kits. I'll look for one with that already installed. Thankfully the engine won't be a problem. I have multiple pick apart yards here and they have everything from H3 to Jeep parts. I'll have to weigh the cost of everything. But hopefully I can get my hands on one.

Also there are some aftermarket grilles that you can get with your paint code on it. Also there was a few editions of the H3 that came with a color matched grille from the factory such as the H3X, tactical edition, and Championship edition.
