The dynamo, the one & only Mr. Steve Marriott ♥️ Did you know Peter Frampton was also in Humble Pie before he went out on his own?
@sprezzatura8755
Жыл бұрын
Indeed! You can hear Peter playing guitar and singing backup vocals on the live version of I don't need no doctor. Exceptional!
Positively one of the best bands to come out of the seventies. Steve Marriott was in a class all to himself. The guys vocals were insane. He was also a dang fine guitarist.

What a dynamo that little guy was! RIP Steve Marriott. 💔🔥❤️
Straight up blues/rock. Great rhythm - short and simple. Patrick nailed it with the new lyrics. Thanks for the reaction guys!
Check out Black Coffee with he Blackberries singing back up....badass!
I don't need no doctor .. rocking the Filmore live .. omg 💕👍😉
was lucky to see Steve Marriott live he was fantastic such a character, didn't even know he was performing just turned up at the club and there he was singing his heart out. great night out
Great reaction guys! Steve Marriott was a phenomenal singer (in my opinion one of the best) both with Humble Pie and Small Faces, but also in solo work. By Humble Pie I highly recommend "Black Coffee", "I don't need no doctor" and "For your love" (a magnificent cover of the Yardbirds song) ... By Small Faces, instead , "Tin Soldier", "Lazy Sunday", "All or nothing", "I'm only dreaming", "Itchycoo Park" and I could go on!😅😂 Keep it up!

I Don't Need No Doctor was a Ray Charles cover! One of my favorite Humble Pie jams
Growing up in the 70’s when we’d get grounded…we’d say…30 days in the hole 🤣😂🤣 ahhh the good ‘ol days!!
I saw them LIVE back in the day ... an incredible experience. The album, "Performance - Rockin The Fillmore" is epic.

You're killin me! I bet it was better than incredible!
Always remember Steve Marriott from the 1960s band The Small Faces - had a lot of their singles including All or Nothing, Itchycoo Park, Tin Soldier and Sunday Afternoon. He had a great voice and was a great guitarist. Was reading that Jimmy Page approached Steve as a possible singer for his new band (Led Zeppelin) but it never happened of course. Robert Plant got the job instead and the rest is history! Steve formed Humble Pie in 1969 which included Peter Frampton from the 1960s band The Herd. Great rock band with some great songs. Many thanks for your reaction, guys, take care.
Back in the day, mainly in the 70s we had two versions of the hits. The "single" (45s in the vinyl) that was basically radio cuts but the Album (longer/full cut) versions were always longer play that you didn't get on AM radio but sometime FM radio would play it in late hours if not during the day if it wasn't too long.
Peter Frampton, "Do You Feel Like We Do" and other songs was a member of Humble Pie prior to this album & song.
That album Smokin is fantastic. You should check out Black Coffee and I Don’t Need No Doctor. Great songs.

Zepplin Fan, I figure their pretty smart young men and if they were to look at the album they’d figure out they weren’t on it and that I was just giving them a couple other songs that were worth the listen. I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Great classic from back in the day. Thanks!
This is a freakin' fantastic song, came out in 1972 from the album "Smokin'", it was such a tragedy when Steve Marriott died from a house fire in 1991 apparently from falling asleep while smoking. There's a live version of a song called "Black Coffee" and "Tin Soldier". When Steve Marriott performed, he gave it all he had, he was one of the greatest guitarist of all time, since he's been gone , he's more recognized for his talent, perhaps, more than when he was alive. It's cool that you finally got around to some "Humble Pie", thanks for this video reaction!

Actually, he passed out drunk while smoking
@seiraeiramasil2302

@@africanfartingfrog Knit pick all you want, it was still a tragedy. I DID mentioned that he died while smoking, people die from smoking in bed and not be passed out drunk, ya know? Just because I didn't get specific about how he fell asleep, whatever.
@africanfartingfrog
2 жыл бұрын
@@seiraeiramasil2302 sorry, no disrespect intended, but you made it sound as if the smoking in bed was the main issue and it wasn't. The problem was that Steve was passed out drunk, not asleep. The fire would have been easily escapable if Steve hadn't drunk himself unconscious
@seiraeiramasil2302
2 жыл бұрын
@@africanfartingfrog Right the fact remains, he was unconscious. yeah from drinking, passed out, got it, that's why he couldn't wake up, sure, does this diminish the fact that it was still a tragic death? How many others have died this same terrible way, and they weren't even PASSED OUT DRUNK. You say no disrespect intended but it seems like you didn't really pay attention to what I wrote, unconscious isn't just about passing out, it also means being asleep, your just so focused about his drinking himself into unconsciousness you ignore the actual facts and statistics of other casualties of this same scenario. Yes, he passed out, but others fall asleep, not much difference here, other than it made it harder for him to wake up, others die of smoke inhalation before they actually die from the fire, so who knows, maybe he couldn't wake up because he was already overcome from smoke inhalation, ya think?

So he was the amazing singer AND the guitar player?
Steve Marriot sang the title role in Oliver on Britain's version of Broadway for many years before he broke bad and turned to rock and roll! Jimmy Page considered both Steve Marriott and Steve Winwood as lead singer of Led Zeppelin before deciding on Robert Plant.
HUMBEL PIE....ICONIC! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Welcome to the Steve Marriott rabbit hole. The finest rock voice of all time. Check out BLACK COFFEE and TIN SOLDIER by Small Faces (oh there's more!)
YAY!!! Finally!! I've been asking you for months to do Humble Pie's "Black Coffee" (live). **You have this album too!**
Ahh; my friends; welcome to America 53 years ago!!
Little Steve Marriot one of the greatest voices in Rock Music History! No auto-tune bullshit here folks just straight up in your face Rock and Roll! A time when musicians actually played instruments no sound tracts! Check out "I don't need no Doctor" by Humble Pie!
Just a piece of hard rock from back in the day. Every time I hear it, my feet move. It's dirty, nasty, but fun. It's about the beat and the guitar.
The song hasnt started and i already know your going to love it 👍
You have to check out I Don't Need No Doctor. A young Peter Frampton on lead guitar...and it's live off Rockin The Fillmore. Framptons guitar playing is perfection 😉
Urban noise and Durban poison (which is a strain of weed if you didn't know).. Always liked that line.. The singer always reminded me of Rod Stewart..
Steve Marriott was like a pocketful of dynamite! Great band keep digging.......... check out Steve Marriott doing "five long years" live in his later years it's phenomenal
So tragic to lose him! He died in a fire at his home in 1991, he was 44
This has always struck me that it should be a Rolling Stones song. Love it.
BLACK COFFEE have to listen to, saw them several times in Texas. Peter Frampton is also playing.
5 long years, live in London, brilliant.
NOW YOU'RE TALKIN!!! I recommend Black Coffee and I Don't Need No Doctor by Humble Pie, Tin Soldier by Small Faces and The Bigger They Come by Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton. It took both Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to replace Steve Marriott in the Small Faces to create The Faces ☮🕊
Great gritty little tune. Can really hear the Stones and T-Rex in this song. For some reason the lead vocals remind me of Tina Turner's style.
You should do my favorite song by Humble Pie. It's from the album: Performance Live from the Fillmore. The song is: Stone Cold Fever....
One of the great early 70s songs about drugs .. and doing time for "having fun" haha
Classic Steve Marriott singing

What a great song from the 70's, this is definitely a banger. If you like this rocker I'm sure you'll like I DON'T NEED NO DOCTOR and HOT ' N' NASTY.
Muscular American rock delivered by Bits. Again! I love it.
Humble Pie, they were fun. Peter Frampton went on to a pretty good solo career. You should check out Beth Hart's cover of Humble Pie's "I Don't Need No Doctor" live at Paradiso. Great cover you will dig it.
Alright, alright, alright, alright yeah Chicago Green, talkin' 'bout Red Lebanese A dirty room and a silver coke spoon Give me my release, come on Black Nepalese, it got you weak in your knees Sneeze some dust that you got buzzed on👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✌️
Back in the day, if you were busted on a drug charge the sentence was 30 days in jail or "the hole". You could get 30 days for one joint! Early call on Steve Marriott's part for legalization. lol
Excellent!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Dive deep into Humble Pie, gentlemen. Steve Marriott and the gang were something special.
A banger! Great song choice guys.
Hell yes!!
They were happy for the simple reason that they were getting ready to jam and have a good time. I imagine if they were literally going in for 30 days, they would NOT be smiling. Lol! I know I wouldn't be, but I wouldn't have put myself in that position either. I haven't lived a perfect life, but never touched that stuff.You know this song is about heroin right? It's still such a fun song which is crazy!
The 'hole' is an isolation room. Often quite small. It was a form of punishment, bordering on torture.
Yes. "The Hole" is prison, but specifically *solitary* *confinement*- the hardest time you can do, usually, and feels MUCH longer than normal time. It also usually included only bread and water for meals.
👍😎
Great song from a fantastic album, Smokin'. Check out Hot and Nasty as well. It's very hot and very nasty. Peter Frampton just left the band when this album was released. Check out the album Rock On if you want to hear Frampton with Steve Marriott, they made quite an incredible team. From Rock On, Shine On, 79th and Sunset, Stone Cold Fever and The Light are my favorites. Humble Pie are classic rock at its best!
Steve Marriott big influence on Robert plant
Peter frampton in the video
Dude looks like Alvin Lee
Sorry, just wanted to chime in on what you were actually hearing from the band members at the beginning of the recording, see, you can hear them kinda singing the chorus, harmonizing as well, then they laugh and say "Yeah, yeah, that's it, that's it." meaning they got it down and ready to do it.
Nice ….my youth
it would be very interesting to hear what you think of Blodwyn Pig - See My Way 1970
Oh damn did I knew you guys were going to fall hard for this one.
This song always makes me think of “Gvprtskvni”

Greatness. Fool For A Pretty Face and Infatuation off of On To Victory.

Except nothing funny about Russia. This song is quintessential rock n roll...doesn't have to be longer to be perfect.
