@@daywren7511 We couldn't decipher ancient hieroglyphs Until we found the Rosetta stone, and there are still to this day ancient scripts we cant decipher despite being of the same species. what make you think aliens are going to be able to decode this and read it? also these satellites are so teeny tiny compared to the space they travel in, they are microscopic needles in a rather large hey stack.

After that arecibo message was sent, some heroes created several crop formations right next to the arecibo dish/antenna, whatever. Its absolutely shocking how well done this crop art is. one of the formations was sort of a copy of the arecibo image but made to depict and locate the "ETs" that were responding to OP. Another of the crop formations was an absolutely enormous image of a bulbous headed, big eyed ET with a big circle in its hand which is filled with a binary message in the form of a spiral. it translated to some warnings about humans mistreating the planet and stuff like that, its a super cool image.

The last comment about ‘Earth 2’ might probably be the outcome that wins out…. While we keep trying to communicate in radio, the rest of the galaxy is texting each other with tachyons….

My friend gave me a commemorative box made by Warner Bros. for the golden record. It contained a gold CD and a book describing the project and what's on the record. The problem is that the images/sounds are contained within a GRASP multimedia file and the player was designed for MS-DOS and won't run in Windows, even in a command prompt window. I've found a GRASP player online but that won't work either. Anyway, the digital files are useless but anyone will be able to read the book years from now.

For anyone that might be interested, the channel UpamdAtom did a fun video on the Arecibo Message where she decodes it as if we're trying to understand a message received from space. It's a great video from a wonderful channel 😁

When the Pioneer plaques were shown to the public, people had a lot of fun figuring out ways that the aliens could completely misunderstand the message. For example, aliens who don't understand perspective drawings might look at the diagram and conclude that the female human is firing darts out of her left shoulder.

It would be cool to take these things and have modern experts who aren't aware of them try to decipher their meanings, and see how ridiculous the idea is that an alien might be able to do it.

It may just be a story someone made up, but I do remember reading that a team was given the message before it was sent, and none of them had any idea what any of it meant hehe!

The best way would probably be a Dyson sphere. Although that's near impossible to do obviously.

I had a recurring dream years ago - aliens intercepted one of the voyager probes and after deciphering the codes and accessing the data on the golden disc - their way of acknowledging the message and such was to analyse the frequencies used between the probe and earth, and to lay the audio of the golden disc back at earth on that frequency In the dream, the groups monitoring the probes were dejected that after so many years they’d lost contact, someone still monitored though just in case, and was at first confused then overwhelmed with “wait…what the F###” In the same vein as englands pre-prepared plans and procedures for when her late majesty Elizabeth II passed - if such contact were to occur - does NASA or the UN or any other such body have plans in place as to how to react and proceed Might be a good idea for a future video but I don’t know how to tag whilst on phone

Yeah, I do not think we could even communicate in math, as there is no guarantee they use even basic counting mechanisms like us or that they would necessarily relate them to numbers. Like Hydrogen for example. One proton, one electron. Easy, but what if their language for "1" is a triangle, or something completely unintelligible to us? Two dots might mean nothing to them. I would think without probably years of study of each other it would be impossible.

IMO, if we are to have any chance communicating with Aliens we first need to learn how to communicate with the various animals on earth first. Certain animals are theoretically very intelligent, yet we currently cannot openly communicate or fully understand them.

Why is humanity seemingly afraid of "Aliens" without ever really meeting one? We are afraid of them because we know how cruel people are to each other so, we would automatically assume they are the same way and be cruel too. I am sure they would take a look and say "those dumb asses are doomed" and keep on moving across the universe.

If I'm wrong, please correct me. If the radio message was sent in the 1970's, won't it take over 25,000 years to get where it's going? And that would be if the waves were traveling at the speed of light. So, at least 50,000 years for travel both ways? So, we may get something in 52,204 years?

Funny thing is, I'm crying over how innocent we come across for doing this attempt to communicate; that we give the aliens far more credit than we should for having become or remained peaceful instead of the arrogant, homicidal idiots that we still are. The big gun or the good package?

Totally agree. every aspect of life on our planet competes for resources. Why would anyone think the rest of the galaxy is any different? Aliens are full stop for humanity, see ya. find us in the fossil record.

What if.... aliens already know we're here, and they set up a barrier 13.7 billion light-years away, to prevent any transmissions from getting in or out? We could be in a giant stellar terrarium and not even know it.

Ancient languages are full languages conveying all sorts of information. These were designed specifically to be decipherable to a species with no shared language or culture with us. Hence the information is encoded entirely using math (but not any human numeral system or units of measurement) as that is universal
