    Young Pup X - I don't think so. The weird fist bump/hand shake at the end WAS funny out of the context of the situation. The audience didn't see the previous awkward and racist interactions with pervious party guests, so you don't have the odd sense of "WTF?" - which is why this movie is so damn good. Scene after scene of "This should be normal, but wtf?" happens, and it leaves the viewer wanting more, and yet it ends perfectly.

    Nah, out of context it's still not funny, and it's obvious there's something up with the guy. Even in the trailer, without seeing it, I didn't think any of it was funny.

    Such a great movie. I didn't know Jordan was such a great writer and director of serious content. The metaphors and the sort of cloaked social commentary built into the film really is incredible, and it's done in a way that doesn't turn the metaphors into clichés Often times you don't even get this quality of film from lifelong directors and cinematographers, so the fact that he was able to accomplish this in his first horror film, which generally pretty poor ratings nowadays, is inspiring. Or maybe I just don't want to look racist, and I'm part of a plot to steal his body... Duh Duh DUHHHHHNNN 😐

    MrAlski1986 That's really interesting. Daniel Kaluuya said he came across someone with your perspective of the movie & I think Jordan addressed that sentiment or "thought process" (you could say) while reading theory posts about the movie on Reddit for a promo, saying that it all really happened to Chris & that none of the events happened in his head. Besides that, I honestly would love to hear why you saw it that way. What were the specific moments & are the specific reasons for why you believe that was all a fabrication of Chris' psyche? Please, tell me? I would absolutely love to know & understand where you're coming from!

  • @Tydomel

    @Tydomel

    6 жыл бұрын

    j69confessional He was going to keep the original ending. A lot of people who worked on the movie, absolutely adored that ending. However, after the election, Jordan felt like we needed win & a hero in Chris. He felt that the new ending would allow the audience to do the work for him of the grounded, real world impact he wanted them to feel, more so in that one instance, than he could have given them in that entire gut-punch of a scene; plus, the win & the ultimate, final bittersweetness of it all. So in the end, Jordan got to have his cake & eat it too in this instance with an *even more* subtly nuanced ending than he had originally planned.

  • @Tydomel

    @Tydomel

    6 жыл бұрын

    Belle Holland It's not really *that* scary. It's more of a thriller. A "social thriller," as Jordan likes to call it. It's more of taking the racist micro-aggressions a lot of well-intentioned, ignorant/unaware people use to be welcoming, but show how they are actually alienating black people by putting it on its head in the most extreme/horrifying way imaginable. Like when Tomi Lahren told Trevor Noah that "[she] doesn't see color." It's okay to see color & to be cognizant of that in the back of your mind. We just ask that it not be *all* that you see, even in the most well-intentioned ways that I'm constantly reminded of my "uniqueness" to the point that I painfully feel as though I don't belong.

    Påtience Yeah, it's more of a thriller, than anything else. Jordan likes to call it a "social thriller." It's a slow burn with lots of twists & turns in it. If you don't really like the subject matter I guess, it's still kind of hard to come away from it saying that it was a shit-looking movie ("slash" you could feel the cheap-assed budget) or that it wasn't well put together or that it wasn't well directed (or written). So, at least, you have that to look forward to!

    I did not find the movie funny at all...Its pure intense drama and thriller.....Jordan must be shocked to hear from Jimmy that the movie is funny as well. But thats what these late shows are....nothing substantial and all pretentious fun

    MrKockNoker couldn't agree less. the hype is real but the movie is really good, even if you ignore the "social" part.

    jnichols959 True, but you don't need to ignore the social commentary. The social commentary is one of the most important parts of the movie.

    MrKockNoker Bullshit. Get Out is definitely not overrated, revisit it again, and it may be a different movie experience for you. I personally thought that Get Out was amazing. It blended hilarious comedy with creepy, and scary horror elements while also adding an important social commentary that it wasn't afraid to address. And as for Avatar, I can kinda see what you mean by overrated. There is something about that movie that seems kinda overrated, but it's definitely not a bad movie. I still like Avatar. Why do you consider Avatar and Get Out overrated movies?
