Human Touch Reflex Review from a Physical Therapist

I've been using this Human Touch Reflex 2 foot and calf massager for the past 5 YEARS and it's still in great shape and one of the best foot and calf massagers out there. This is a review of the durability and quality of this product. If you're interested in the newest version (Human Touch Reflex 5 or even 4), but you're on the fence, I hope this review helps you to feel confident about the quality and durability of the HT reflex product.

    For me personally, the biggest use for this massager was getting me loosened up after waking up when I was recovering from plantar fasciitis and super stiff and barely able to walk in the morning. My former wife sold my 1st one when we broke up, I lost my second one due to flooding in my basement apartment, I bought one for my brother and I’m about to buy my 4th one right now! 😸

    Hello and congratulations for your videos !!! I watch them from Greece and i find them very motivational. I would like to ask you if this massage equipment is suitable for recent stroke patients that aren't capable to walk a lot. Would it help them with blood circulation for example? I am asking since it's not the case for tired feet that stood up all day. Thank you in advance and keep up the excellent work !!! :)

    Hi Tim, thanks for your reviews! I'm looking for a recommendation and I hope you can help me out. I'm looking for a foot massager. And i sort of narrower it down to Bob and Brad massager, Human Touch Reflex PopUp Foot Massager and Renpho. It sounds that that Human Touch is very good brand, but do you mind to share your thoughts or even review the Reflex PopUp Foot Massager?

    Hi there Tim! I feel like my feet and especially my calves are very tight! I do massage my calves myself, though I know I'm not completely squeezing and smoothing out those muscles and trigger points. I'm wondering, what are your thoughts in relation to visiting a PT and asking them to completely smooth out my calves. Would that be possible?

    Dennis Sharp good question. The massager reaches 13” from the bottom of your feet. It should reach your calf muscle with no problem, but since you’re taller, I’d recommend measuring the distance of your foot/calf to make sure it would reach. Thanks!

    which is better to relieve arthritis pain?A massager with roller or vibrator?

  • @PTProgress

    @PTProgress

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hari Hara Subramanian, good question! The Arthritis foundation recommends slight pressure massage (like a comfortable rolling massager would provide) because it helps to stimulate pressure receptors that transmit pain relieving neurotransmitters. In terms of vibrating massage, this can also provide pain relief by blocking pain channels. I’d try both! But generally, light pressure massage is effective for relieving arthritis pain.

    @@PTProgress Thanks for the quick reply. Will massagers with heat also help?

  • @PTProgress

    @PTProgress

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hari Hara Subramanian M - typically I recommend ice to reduce swelling and inflammation as related to arthritis pain. Heat will increase blood flow, which some would argue promotes healing. But generally ice is recommended as a way to reduce pain/soreness for arthritis. It’s ok to try both or to alternate between them! Always check your skin to make sure you’re not burning yourself (with heat OR ice) and limit exposure to prolonged ice or heat, using a cloth to as a barrier for the skin.

    Samantha Martinez if they pain/soreness goes up into the calf, I’d say the massager could be helpful. If the pain is isolated to the Achilles’ tendon near your heel, the calf massager will probably feel great, but I don’t think it’s going to be the solution. Best of luck!

    It’s not false information. There are massage balls at the bottom of the unit just as the picture shows. The massage moves upwards as the sequence of massage balls engage, providing an upward massage. There are quite a few massage knobs in the unit so of course it’s not one massage ball that moves through the entire thing.

    @@Vincee3 If he was an average person or a salesman then I would not mind the flattery language but he says he is a Physical Therapist. That gives him more credibility so the expectations are higher for what he says. He basically shares his opinions while he comes up with some anecdotes off the companies ad which makes him untrustworthy. There are no balls going in figure 8. There are rollers and paddles that squeeze your feet and calves and pull on them with an upward motion. I am familiar of such massagers and how they are designed and built. Yes they do work but no match for a massage by human and will never replace a human. So really this is not review, not to mention a detailed review. How about put a camera with the unit turn on. Remove the liners so that we all can see the movement of the paddles and explain whats happening and how it really feel. Well at least one person below agrees with me and looking for a review.
