Yup, I once heard a test pilot say ‘ the simulation says it won’t work but I know the plane has more capability than the simulator so let’s give it a try’.

That was my first thought the way they were describing the aircraft YF-19 with the FAST PACK installed and cowboys attitude is a dead ringer for Isamu.

Macross plus will always be my jam!!

Test pilots are the craziest human pilots available.

It amazes me just how many planets evolved crustacean life forms. In these stories, they all have exoskeletons, claws and mandibles. Or, at least, any of the two. We humans are truly unique. 🍻

To be fair insects survive and thrive in very many different environments and can survive great extremes. For instance an exoskeleton could make sense on a planet with lots of rock slides or earthquakes.

In most of these stories -- on numerous channels -- these insectoid aliens are "shocked" to find out just how "warlike" humans are: "How could they have even survived?" Earth's insects are FAR MORE "deadly" than earth's primates. So, an insectoid alien would be "shocked" by how peaceful we were, relatively speaking. They would not be shocked by our histories of war. Their species would be far more warlike.

BUT, anyone who knows anything, about earthly insects, knows that insects are FAR MORE violent than earth's primates. So, an insectoid race should be "shocked" at how peaceful we are -- relatively speaking -- and at how well we get along with each other. BUT, although the aliens are described as 'insectoid-like,' they don't seem to have an "insectoid" perspective/attitude. 🤷‍♂

A lot of the spacecraft in these gluts of short stories look really cool. However, this one is clearly done by AI... Or the two halves were done by different artists and mashed together.

I bet Cowboy is a descendant of the late ace Glamrock 1.

Plane looks like macross vf.27 Lucifer or a yf.29 Duridol.

Wonderful story! This would make a wonderful premise for a great movie. All I could think of was Tom Cruise and Top Gun 3....or is it 4?

@@Wolfen443 Ah I had it the on VHS I'm looking for the entire OG Macross collection in blue-ray with not much luck because of Harmony gold. I'm such a nerd that as a kid i have tried to make tech blueprints to the Mecha/Aircraft to see if we can build one. Considering the original artist/designer (Name escapes me) I think was an aircraft engineer.

The ship would look better if the AI understood symmetry.

I cannot understand why the spaceships are so asymmetrical: engines, wings, control surfaces, etc. it is as if the spaceship engineers don’t know about perspective drawings.

Insectoid life is thought to be the most likely form out in space if aliens exist. Also its probablly trans atmospheric would make sense instead of making 2 fighters.
