HUMAN or ROBOT? (Guess The Vocals)

Музыка

[READ DESC. BEFORE YOU PLAY/COMMENT]
EDIT: Wow, 200K views!! Thank you so much ;-;
(If any of the content that I use belong to you and you're uncomfortable with it, please let me know! I will gladly take the video down)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPLANATION:
This is a little game I made to test your capability of differentiating the human voice and the artificial voice that is made with a vocal software or synthesizer. (which is technically a singing 'robot', as mentioned in the title- for simplification. 'Robot' is not a 100% accurate term to refer to voice synthesizers, but I just figured people would understand the phrase "singing robots" better than "voice synthesizers", so don't take it too seriously.)
VOCALOID, UTAU and CeVIO all fall to the same category: voice singing synthesizers/voice synthesizers/vocal softwares.
(Pardon my mistake in the video, "voice programs" isn't a correct term. "Voice synthesizer" or "vocal software" are more fitting terms)
RULES/HOW TO PLAY:
The rules are simple, a snippet of a vocal will be shown for not more than 15 seconds, and the next two seconds are left for you to decide your final answer whether it is a robot/voice program or a human, before the actual answer will be shown on the screen.
This game has an overall number of 20 questions, so your final score will be calculated as ?/20.

This video was difficult to make because I wanted to make sure this game would not be too easy. I tried my best in picking the most realistic sounding vocals from the voice synthesizers, and also the most "artificial" sounding vocals from real life human singers.
Those who have been in the Vocaloid/Utau fandom long enough or have enough knowledge/experience with the virtual singer world would probably find this not as difficult. So, to extend the fun, make your friends who don't know anything about vocal softwares play this game!
I hope you had fun in playing this. If you wish to leave any critiques/thoughts/opinion, please feel free to do so. And if you want to see a part 2, let me know in the comments down below!

Generally it’s rather easy to tell an auto tuned human voice from a voice program. You just need to know what to listen to. Voice programs generally go syllable by syllable, which sound pretty disjointed even when strung together. Think, what your voice would sound like if you said each syllable with a slightly different inflection. An auto tuned human’s voice originally had an organic flow so even if it’s adjusted after the fact, even to sound robotic, it comes off as smoother.

UTAU's engine edit less the sound, and there's a tool (mod) to remove most sound correction, to make it the most realistic as possible, so technically UTAU have a way bigger field for realism then Vocaloid, we can also record extra phonemes for more realism, and UTAUs are ofter VCV, while Vocaloid are CVVC, so less record, less variety, less realism, and popular vp are usually way better at making voicebank then big companies, also UTAU's engine is allowing waaay more voice diversity and voice tone then Vocaloid, so more realism, so technically UTAU is way more realist then Vocaloid Tho if you record a mono-pitch/append CV with a potato like in 2008, in this case Vocaloid is better x)

If you listen closely, vocaloids/utauloids have their tones move in a stepping kind of manner. You’ll also hear subtle voice breaks. They sound very autotuned, but some add breathes and smooth ends so that they’d sound more human. For humans with autotune, you’d still hear tones not altered while they sing because of the autotune set to only some notes most likely. You could also hear very realistic breathing in between lines. It’s kind of easy when you know this, I got around 14

When you have 13 years of vocaloid experiences it’s so easy to tell who is who- maybe I should stop listening to it lol. Also the way to find out easier is to hear for a vibration in the u and o, a is a little harder since it can sound soft sometimes, o and u are still a struggle for the programs unless you bend your back 1000 directions to fix the tuning.

Some of the tell-tale signs of a human is audible breathing that don't sound fake, pauses that are clearly for breathing rather then a part of the song, trailing of at the end of a long chord, and other minor things that make them slightly imperfect. Obviously humans can be basically perfect and identical to some of the robots as well, which is what makes this hard... I got 16/20 still

I got this at first try I think the clue it gives is rather clear, the "slides" of the notes (if you know what I mean) don't really sound human also, the only human I can think of is Matthew Koma; his voice has some sort of spikes and he usually changes the notes without "sliding" at some points

Nice! I was able to guess all of these correctly. A lot of vocaloid and utau have a slightly metalic sound to their voice but humans with autotune and no breath is VERY tricky LOL.

10/20 - no different from random chance even though I could identify telltale signs that some were sung by a voice program (pronunciation of certain sounds in English for example). However, human voices that were modified sounded robotic and led me to guess incorrectly.

LMAO well she really sounds like that smooth utau with pink hair 6 - human 7 - utau 8 - human 9 - vocaloid 10 - vocaloid (seeu omg girls generation my sone heart

It's nearly 3am I can't sleep I'm going delirious and got all of these right in a very stressful stretch of 20 minutes of thinking through my progress. Honestly, it's mostly just listening to the points at the end of syllables. If you've heard enough vocaloid you can connect how that's supposed to sound. Some of the humans were replicating that effect, but were much more dramatic about it than how it actually sounds when a vocaloid goes from, say, one half of a word to the other half. Vibrato can also be a tip off, it's really distinct.
