After an apparent ship malfunction, two stranded astronauts revive their onboard computer, discovering her newfound ability to experience human emotions.
"Human" is an entirely improvised feature film in which the audience gets to experience the story unfold at the same time as the characters. The cast spent months preparing their character backstories and the backstory of their mission and then improvised this film over the course of six days with no script, no plan for what would happen, and no second takes. The film was then crafted (and to a certain extent, written) in post production.
The film premiered at the 2021 Horsetooth International Film Festival in Fort Collins, CO.
Galen and myself have been playing with the format of recorded improvisation for a couple of years and this was our first big experiment. It was life-changing. I was amazed at the way things worked out; so many gifts from the universe and happy accidents that we couldn't have planned if we tried. Looking forward to creating more with this approach and letting the universe do its thing.
