Hulk Hogan Gives Abyss His WWE Hall Of Fame Ring TNA Impact - DEADLOCK Podcast Retro Review

Ойын-сауық

“Lord of the Ring,” the Feb 18th, 2010 episode of TNA Impact Wrestling. Hulk Hogan presents Abyss with his WWE Hall of Fame ring, declaring that it will make Abyss stronger than Hulkamania and a god among men. This moment not only solidified Abyss as a top contender in the company, but also marked the beginning of a powerful alliance between Hogan and Abyss. This partnership saw the two wrestlers work together to dominate the TNA roster, with Abyss becoming a key player in Hogan’s faction, Immortal. AJ Styles, under the mentorship of Ric Flair, beats up the new number one contender and 8 Card Stud winner, The Pope D’Angelo Dinero, and leaves him laying in the ring. This idea of AJ Styles being the next Ric Flair was not well received by the fans as AJ Styles was already a top guy in the company and the face of TNA Wrestling. Also in one of the most infamous moments in TNA Wrestling history, Samoa Joe was kidnapped by NINJAS. After the kidnapping, Samoa Joe was taken off TNA Impact TV, and when he was brought back, the storyline was never mentioned again. This was a major disappointment for fans as it was a bizarre and uninteresting storyline that came out of nowhere and had no real purpose or resolution. Also, The boys talk about DPW Live #1 that saw the main event of SB KENTo vs Lucky Ali for the DPW Worlds Championship.

TNA's management at this time was desperately trying to attract lapsed Attitude Era fans who hadn't watched any wrestling since WCW folded, but all they ended up doing was driving away a lot of the fans TNA had already built up. Really, it's a cautionary tale for bookers everywhere

And that Nexus debut was awesome! Bryan choking dickhead w/his tie. It's hard to remember how great their debut was , because the group was jobbers and guys they dropped the ball on, but literally tearing the ring apart, taking out Cena and Punk was an amazing way to have them show up and their motives made sense w/kayfabe! If they had commited or Cena realized what his future would be, so he wouldn't politic and they had just put Barrett over, he would have been a made top tier heel. Ryback they also built up just to knock down, but he always felt like a poor man's Goldberg. Justin Gabriel could have been a midcard babyface if they had just had him do something simple, like make a save for a beloved character etc , rather than just have him smile and have three minute matches on HEAT to the point that he quit the company. His moveset was fire! Heath Slater was perfectly suited in his role! At least we got Bryan's run, even against the company's will to a point!

According to Russo, the Samoa Joe ninja kidnapping was supposed to lead to a series of vignettes where the leader of the ninja clan was going to be Jimmy Snuka and the reason he kidnapped Joe was to help train him into a more vicious warrior. But then a month later they brought Joe back with no explanation because they didn’t have enough babyfaces and the storyline was dropped.

Funny enough this episode of TNA took place after the final episode of WWECW and before the first episode of NXT the game show era. Also Abyssamania Abyss easilly the worst version of Abyss like what where they thinking when doing this I say is as bad as Corporate Kane for monster characters taking a huge turn in there characters. Also Samoa Joe went on a big loosing streak when he came back in 2010 after the ninja debacle which was not followed up from to loosing to No Job Rob and Mr Anderson and the Nation of Violence gimmick happened way before Hogan came in where he joined up the Main Event Mafia cause he got paid by them which meant he teamed up with Kurt even though they hated each other in kayfabe. And lastly Cornette leaving in 09 made him have no one who favor him backstage so is why he was rarely used in anything relevant and took forever to get a shot in the main event scene. And if I recall correctly Bischoff apparently did not get the whole appeal of the x division which is a division with no limits so in his great ideas made it mandatory to have triple threats and a 230 pound weight limit for a year or so it was the worst.

OK, the thing that I noticed about this: This era has to have the worst Abyss look of all time, I don't know what it is, because it's basically just a different version of his usual gear but the mask just looks absolutely dog-shit. For me, black mask, black pants and black vest Abyss with James Mitchell is all time Abyss...and then they have him be a Hogan fanboy (I'm not even against that on the condition that it's Joseph Parks doing that, NOT Abyss).

Why did they push impact like this with the X division is pretty much the cruiserweights from wcw and xwf they did not of any other other work from any company when this is what made Impact Wrestling NWA TNA X Division

Apparently Knobbs and Sags had too many drinks and ‘started to embarrass themselves’ so the boys were right they most definitely exposed there buttholes to the Spike TV execs 😂
