if i had my druthers they'd employ all 3 different camera angles. i know some would say they want consistency in order for the match to be consistent and "tell a story" without jumping around the camera angles. but id still like to see points from all 3 angles

What if they did the same thing in tennis? People would be so pissed off and they would immediately change it. It’s an obvious fact that this angle sucks. It’s another obvious fact that we’ve been sentenced to this camera angle because table tennis fans are not doing anything about it. Also, WTT won’t do a poll because they don’t care about democracy. There’s a guy who decided that and like a dictator, he won’t change it until he dies.

Hugo's max potential is unmatched, but he rarely stays there. It's unfortunate his inconsistency prevents him from winning 1st place in major tournaments.

but recently he did change a lot. Trying to be more consistency than smashing hard. I can see that trend from his recent matches - not sure he hired a new Asian coach or not. So Hugo will come back, quite soon hopefully.

Mesmo tendo perdido, Hugo merece os parabéns, pois jogou contra outro grande jogador. Infelizmente as vezes parece que o Hugo se desconecta da partida, o sete de 11x0 simplesmente foi inacreditável. Mas o importante é seguir em frente, continuar treinando forte, pois em algum momento ele vai ter a sua revanche. Força Calderano, o Brasil está com você!

Calderano decepção do Brasil muito ridículo

Felix was the favorite in this tournament despite being seed number 2 and he delivered. He showed consistency and great mental strengh. Let's hope he carries on this way and go higher (taking a "Champions" or "smash" title or a world cup title for example) 😀

I think overall Hugo is a better player when playing his high performance. But Felix mental strength is ridiculous, loosing 2 x 0 and didn't flinch, great game, this boy is out of this world.

Hugo is like a human whip and I love the sounds his powerful shots produce and some of his shots were surreal and I had to burst out laughing. But in the end he plays a high risk high reward game but it can collapse quite quickly sometimes when he loses momentum.

c'est ouf ce que Felix arrive à faire face à un Calderano hyper agressif. Bien à joué à lui j'espère qu'il continuera comme ça encore longtemps

Il est trop vif en bloc avec sa prise, il le prenait de vitesse de ouf. Au 4eme set on dirait il sert limite a plat pour le faire démarrer et le defoncer derrière. Les pts perdus par Félix au début de match c est des fautes directes au final. Le 11-0 vient pas de nul part.

Hugo's first two games were so impressive, but unfortunately Felix proved himself to be mentally stronger and technically more all-rounded and consistent, not what one would typically expect from such a young player. Bravo to both. The first three 3 games were thrilling to watch. WTT's cuts were still mysterious as usual. Is there a WTT rule to say no highlights should exceed 12 minutes?

Can we just take a second to appreciate how beautiful Hugo's high toss serve is?

This Euro young penholder player is something special. I think most Chinese coaches will be amazed how a player with the perfect modern penholder skill can come out of Europe. Felix's skill is way ahead of most Chinese modern Chinese penholder players after Ma Lin, Wang Hao and Xu Xin. One would never imagine Europe could represent the last hope of penholder grip. Don't forget currently the two best penholders are all from Europe in Felix and Qiu Dang.

That match is one of the best match I've ever seen with Felix

Calderano’s head duck hidden ball serve is very effective. He only gets called on it at the Olympics where they enforce the rules. Have you noticed the video coverage no longer shows the view over the receivers shoulder where you can watch the ball disappear behind his head? This serve often gets him a weak return because it is so hard to read, so he is able to come with a full power third ball kill. It took Felix a couple of games to figure it out. He was then often able to return serve with a vicious attack push deep to Calderano’s backhand eliminating the third ball kill. He was then able to win the match.

Félix a encore progressé recemment, à la fois sur la vélocite et sur la vivacité, et en même temps, on sent qu'il gère de mieux en mieux mentalement sa précipitation voir son "emportement" à vouloir abréger le point le plus rapidement possible face à son adversaire du moment.

If there is one thing you can rely on, then it is Hugo somehow slowing down after 2-3 incredible sets.Mostly he still wins. But against high class players it very often ends like this video. I love seeing Felix win. But it is also a bit sad to always see the same pattern with Hugo, would love to be wrong in Olympia 2024 in Paris.

Хьюго начал душить высокими подачами. Феликс очень много таких подач поначалу принимал в сетку. Но потом резко подстроился и игра пошла. Ещё прикольный момент (могу ошибаться): Феликс мастер игры у стола, а Кальдерано далеко от стола. И прям видно как каждый мяч Кальдерано сразу пытался игру удлинить. Какое-то время это работало. Не думаю, что Кальдерано выдохся или ментально не справился, думаю, он просто тактически проиграл. Также могу сказать, что третья партия была очень важна. Если бы Феликс не забрал, то всё могло бы закончиться по-другому.

Je crois que Félix Lebrun fait maintenant peur à ses adversaires, son jeune âge et ses performances impressionnent, sa réputation le précède. Alors ils se retrouvent en face joueurs bien plus âgés qui craignent de perdre la face et qui, inconsciemment, forcent leur jeu et commettent plus de fautes qu'à l'habitude ce qui profitent à Félix tout en l'encourageant dans son ascension. Cela dit, rien ne fait peur à Félix, son adresse et sa vitesse sont dignes des meilleurs, sa résilience et sa persévérance sont exemplaires donc rien ne lui interdit de postuler au rang suprême de N°1, c'est ambitieux mais pas exclu. D'ici là il est capable d'aller décrocher une médaille au JO de Paris ce qui enchanterait tout le monde.

I thought no way Calderano can play at the speed of Lebrun. Calderano would have to be further from the table and Lebrun would move him around. Didn’t quite work that way. Calderano started well, making everything.

I'm not sure why WTT insists on putting a score in every thumbnail. I'd even prefer if they just covered it with a sponsor. They seem set on cramming as many ads as possible anyway.
