I think Hugh really defected because Rhaenyra became a tyrant in Kingslanding, affecting Hugh’s family and friends as a result. Due to the selfishness of the Blacks and Greens, Hugh likely had enough and tried to form a smallfolk rebellion but failed. History is written by the victors who villains Hugh, a loving father and friend who wished for the betterment of the smallfolk.

Whooaa I love that. Great point about history being written by the victors. Ulf the White is called a drunk and a sot. But High is called a brutal man. There is no denying the lack of rule in tumbleton after his betrayal of the blacks. But I think you are 100% right that the show is going down that path.

@@SplashPageVideo The commoners suffering in HOTD makes the ending for Game of Thrones even more satisfying. Who rules Westeros now? Commoners, cripples, bastards, and a dwarf. The great houses of Westeros, aside from House Stark and House Martell, got what was coming for them. It’s sad how the works of Jahaerys, Alysanne, Daeron the Good, and Aegon the Unlikely were torn to shreds by their family members.

Yeah, totally agree. The book version is just a guy getting greedy after finding out he has a gift (being able to ride dragons). Here it looks like they are trying to make him sympathetic so when he turns, viewers might actually root for him.

I hope the show doesnt cut out alot of the seed stories, the show seems so focused on alicent and rhynera that Im afraid they wont give the next generation in the dance enough screen time.

I think you're right. They do need to stretch the story though. I think they are trying to get 4 seasons out of it. It seems like you read the book so you know how characters start to... Umm... No long be around. So my guess is they will need to expand people outside of alicent and rhynera.

Great video! I've been looking for videos that go more in depth on hugh hammer and ulf the white-like what made them do what they did, when they decided, etc. Unfortunately the book doesn't give a lot to go on. I'm curious to see where hotd S2 will end as well

The way the show is going....I believe their alleged betrayal were lies to hide a bigger picture. Oaft has some lose lips, maybe he says something that gets taken out of context. Yeah they could have changed along the way but im SURE there is more to it than was written.

Can you do a video on the 2 brothers that appear to be bastarda of Corlys Velaryon? I thought i've heard they will claim dragos too, but I could be wrong. 1 was thanked by Corlys in epi 1 for pulling him out of the sea.
