I hated cutting straight hair in Barber School! It's like once you blend out one line, you create another one. My instructor turned me on to the #18 (Oster 76) blade which is an alternative to the 1 1/2 blade. It blended those hard lines out as if you were using a thinning shear. Considering his type of hair, it looks great. Well done! ✂💇

FYI Asian hair do not need the long blends like other textures do . Their hair blend better with smaller guidelines . And more flared out at the ridge . As u can see there is soooo muuch dark spots and looks choppy .

Asian don't have good hair texture for fade compare to Latino. It something about their hair texture that give that choppy look. If they want a good transition fade from top to bottom, the top should be a #3 guard and and work it's way down to a low guard as it going down. The barber should use scissor and comb to clean out edge and not just pair of clipper and this would give a natural texture and not that artifcal texture.

Ppl that say all asian hair is super straight have no idea what they are talking about. Wavy isnt straight. When they have straight hair u will see it and there is no wave at all.

I thought so too. Idk if the guy had like thinning hair in areas but his hair seemed pretty thick. Yeah it was a big change but his fade wasn't as dope as the barber implies.

It's definitely the texture. You can even see when he debulks with the 2. The hair has dark spots and light spots everywhere.

this guys hair isnt meant to be skinfaded id say. very sparse in areas but when its grown long it thicks and is better with length, not this barbers fault but id not have put this up after seeing final product.

I love how you explain each step and don't hurry through it. As a student, this really helps! TY!

You can tell the hair texture was really difficult to blend but you did the best you could good job !

he made a mistake by not washing his hair with warm water and shampoo. This guy might have went to the barber without washing his hair in the morning. I have to wash mine before cutting because when I wake up it is all flatten and messy. And u can see the difference in texture even when the hair is very short

Awesome haircut! Perfect length and style for this guy!!

I love your videos Jorge, you gave that man a gift. The hard part placement was on point too 👌🏻. I don’t like drop fades on asian hair/faces though. They give them a flatter faced look on already flat bone structure and the patchy hair, even when perfectly executed looks so so. I prefer giving them a low low fade leaving a nice dark arc area in front and I’ve found it compliments their look a lot, along with a little bulkier crown to avoid shooting hairs over there.

Very nice cut. One trick I learned a long time ago that will help with blending the top with the sides with straighter hair if you take you 1 1/2 BLADE and turn it side ways and slice into the thicker sides and back it kind of thins the hair and blends it by cutting every OTHER strand instead of flat against it. Try it. Thanks for sharing your gifts. Be blessed.

This man in particular doesn't have the best hair texture for a fade But a lot of asian men do have really good hair for fades and clipper over comb

This is what you do, after you debulk, rinse the hair in the shampoo bowl and scrub the follicles and have the hair lay back in the direction it grows after the follicles loosen up the hair . The fading will be much easier . Maybe even a active cool shampoo would be helpful to open up those pores . 🙌🏼

Bro you hooked my man up. I wouldn’t necessarily call that a lot of work to get to the finished cut, but it absolutely requires technical skill and lots of creativity to know how to cut it and how to achieve the end results. You did damn thang brother. I’m a cosmetologist and barber, so in that sense I understand what you mean when you say it’s a lot of work. I don't know how long you've been barbering but dude you are good!

I'm a stylist, still have my license, but no longer working behind the chair in 4 yrs. So I'm a little bit out of the loop of the tools out now to do a proper fade. My son is military and needs a fade from a 0. My clippers and peanuts are obsolete, I'm throwing them out and starting over with new tools to do his haircut properly. Can you suggest certain brands, or type of clipper an T edge I need. Since I only cut his hair, I don't need top of the line,as I would if I were still working in a salon. Thank you

Dope, how long have you been cutting?

This canvas has a lot of ridges with low spots from the skull and scalp type. Hard to tell unless you feel around with your fingers or of course cut the client previously. Also the hair isnt as densly populated in some areas. Using the corner of the clipper will only do so much. Someone here commented blending down and leaving a flared out ridge with smaller guidelines is better and I agree. Im not a barber but I fade my own Asian hair and its not easy 😂

He doesn’t look boring! People change their looks all the time for certain reasons. Looking the same for most of your life is boring. And he looks much better. But a Samurai always had their hair tied up in a knot, shaved forehead so they can wear their helmets. But how do you know he’s Japanese, that’s where the Samurai began. He could be a Korean or Chinese or maybe even Native American.
