    Also a couple mods I am working on myself are a more transparent D pad and button keys that I can put a LED light circle used for the Joysticks to give all the buttons RGB and they would just tie into the same connector as I would use the default ring RGB light ring so tieing it into the existing ports no problem, well beyond it being very delicate work.

    I have definitely been trying to get my hands on one. I had a possible way to get one but for now it didn’t pan out. If you get on Twitter or socials at all and can tag Lenovo and my name they may could push one out to me lol. I know I’d love to do some modding content with it because I have actually came up with a few that I’m 99.9% will work perfectly too. If you know anyone who is selling one cheap or would trade for some pc hardware or something I’d love to hear about it. Currently I’m unable to afford one straight out though. Maybe I can find a broken one cheap or something one day or someone will donate one to the channel or Lenovo will see every one begging me to mod one and send me one lol. Join the Cppc tek discord in the description part. We do have some members with one and I know we’re all into modding so maybe one of them will beat me to a mod

    One MOD I am trying to find a mod where i can either solder a separate USBC PD port so I can charge my Ally while still having my Full Featured USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port as I have other hardware that need that port and I cannot find a USB-C hub that has a PD passthrough with also a USB-C 3.2 gen2 port for use on the hub so I can't run video out from the hubs and the only hubs that might meet that need cost as much as the Ally itself at 699.99 USD do you have any idea on how to do that, would love to find a way to convert the XG port with a converter dongle that would add an extra USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port or a basic USB-C port for PD and leave the original USB-C available.

    No for various reasons. One is there’s a lot of fitment issues. 2 you can’t properly cool the better nvme drives they over heat. 3 you have to cut the housing and relocate the wifi antenna. The 2280 adapter using the right heatsink cools perfect and the apu temps are unaffected.

It’s not a bad dock for the price but…. ----- Are you gaming ? If so …. Go ahead and spend a few bucks and snag this Jsaux dock. It’s the king of docks and it’s got a 10$ off coupon if you use this link this thing has 120hz support, ultrawide high refresh and it also has display port which I prefer for gaming because you can usually do freesync via display port but not hdmi. • @cppctek

    @cppctek

    6 ай бұрын

    I did and it had worse temps. There’s two fans inside the ally that act as intakes and the big fan is feeding them even colder air so it really makes a difference. Doing exhaust it creates turbulence inside and just heats up the apu. It would lower vram and nvme temps maybe but it’s just fighting the other fans for direction. I know stock is 65 but the 100w chargers are faster and more efficient and give extra power to a dock if you use one and might cost about same as stock. Lastly if you look at the top. Anyone tried Liquid Metal? And Graphene Pads for VRAM? (Not recommended, Temps for science reasons)

    I’ve got some stuff coming but I’ve seen Liquid Metal on the Ally and it resulted in zero benifit and all the more risk. The heatsink doesn’t play well with Liquid Metal at all. I do have some new thermal solutions coming this week tho

    Yeah the tiny heatpipes i believe it has no benefits from LM mod. I got it proven back on the Steam Deck unless running a huge copper block Mod from CoolDeck where it stays always 70 even full load. Ive ran graphene pads on SD on its VRAM, its OK on my end. But had to ran a lot of Kapton tape to avoid any type of short. Its been over a year with a LM steam deck, no issues. But LM has lifespan. Once it hits weird temps im going back to Thermal Paste

    Umm why would you do such a awful fan mod when it is not needed, you can keep the system at 48c - 55c at 30W running a Triple AAA game, tested this with WOW, FFXIV, Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, etc over a constant run of 48 hours all with maxed graphic settings (usually ultra except for Cyberpunk 2077 and the odd other game tweaked to the highest graphic fidelity while keeping the FPS 40+ min in combat and high graphicly demanding parts of the games) you just have to tweak your fan curves. There is absolutely no need for this fan mod and how the heat pipes are designed precludes the fan from doing anything but token level heat removal, you can avoid the battery draw the fan will cost you if you know how too set your watt and fan ramp profile, not only is this not needed it looks awful. Also not putting an external fan control since you seemed to have connected it to the battery, makes this mod even more pointless. So I really have to ask WHY?

    Of course I would be happy to, never even thought of posting a screen shot of them, like Dah what a great idea.🤯 Just give me a few hours and I will take screenshots of my Power Profiles and Fan Curves for my 4 main ones. I will also find some of the screenshots I took when I did the 48 hour long stress tests to evaluate the long term heat buildup and performance and you will see that after those 48 hours the temps and FPS stay right here they were at the start of the test at 40+ FPS and 56c to 64c temps and that goes for the lower Watt profiles and maxed out 30 Watt Profile; many games you don't even need to run at cranked 30 Watt to get fantastic FPS and cooling which allows you to run on battery longer. I guess posting them to my KZread channel will be the easiest/safest way as I don't want to post a link as while I know I would not post a bad link I don't expect others to just blindly trust a link, so my YT page is the easiest and safest. I'm at work at the moment but I will try and have them uploaded in the next 12 hours, I do have my Ally with me, so I should be able to get those screenshots even sooner, plus customers love asking me what it is when I have my Ally out, it's kind of funny 😝 I will reply to you again here when they are up 🦊@@Conf1ictionGaming

    I def want to see proof in a video of your magical settings to achieve 55c consistency at 30w manual /turbo playing cyberpunk. Also if you’d be as critical to say my mods are pointless and then have better ideas for fan control please go ahead and help me find a better way. Lol

    I will be posting screenshots of my power profiles and the fan curves, I wish I could show Cyberpunk and Starfield but I was using my friends account to test them just to see, I will try and get them to share their account with me so I can try and get those benchmarks interestingly if you look at the LTT review of the Legon and Neo they both has a 23 Watt power profile which is exactly the same SOC watt and fan curves I setup months ago. But yes I am critical of the fan mod as if you carefully look at the way the building of the Ally's back panel the way the fans are restricted to pull air in, then through the radiator fins, then out it is almost a totally closed system and pushing more air into the Ally does not actually help us as the Ally does not benefit from static pressure, it relies on constant air flow, now by pushing more air into the body of the Ally that air needs to go somewhere but the fans for the SOC suck air in from the back vents, but this is also where the air from the fan mod is pushing air and its not helping the fans get the air it needs as it is relatively sealed to the boards/vents/back plate so you end up starving the vans, that's why you are only seeing such a minor drop in temps {About 3-6c} but with a fan like the Noctua fan it should be much much more if it was flowing correctly over the rad Fins and then out. Also Adding a fan of that size even on low power will take over 20x amount of power that the 2 small fans that are the default ones. What I really want to get is the new Frore Systems Air Jet Max to replace the 2 fans, now that is a DIY I really want to do, Ok I have been typing this while at work and when to then get screenshots of my power profiles and fan curves and was unpleasantly surprised to find the latest Armory crate update erased my power profiles, and when I went to get my screen shots of my testing for temps, i was missing a lot of screenshots, then realized that i had a non recoverable error in my windows 11 home when I tried to upgrade it to Pro and required an entire wipe of my 1tb replacement M.2 drive and a reclone from the original 512Gb M.2 drive that comes with the drive {This had to do with a security issues with bitlocker as i had to get my Ally serviced due to a main board error that kept the control button thinking it was being pressed continually. and so the new mainboard would keep tripping Bitlocker lockout and i could not remove it as it was all linked to my old mainboard hence the reclone as they reset that after they replaced the mainboard so I knew it worked} So i kind of deleted all my screenshots, I am hoping that my Onedrive backed it up I will be checking on that tonight, either way if I can't get them back I will just retest and I will post messages when I upload the pictures to my youtube channel. I do want to say one other thing, yes i was kind of being a bitch with my comment, i try never to do that but i have loved the Ally from the day of its world first reveal on LTT, and I pre-ordered the first day i could and i'm so happy to have a Ally with one of the very first serial numbers, i love it and i hate to hear that people would not take the time to learn how to do things such as create their own power profiles and just returned it saying it got to hot and for some so hot it started to Thermal throttle and then they said it performed badly. This is also Asus's fault as they needed to educate people better on what and why and how to do it. I also love the esthetics of the Ally and when I say a 120mm fan stuck to the back and a whole cut out of the back plate I almost wanted to cry. but then I realized that the fan was doing very little it make me react badly and for that I do want to Apologize, for how I reacted. One reason it upset me so much is I did the math after taking off the back and checking a few things and it became clear that the way it was done would not offer any real tangible cooling. taking off the 2 small fans the using foam to barrier a path to focus the air to go side to side then then up through the heatsink fins and out the top you would with that fan which has great static pressure expect and half speed colling into the high 40c at least and that would also cool the SSD. Additionally havening a manual speed control would be ideal to be able to ramp it up when you needed it and down when you don't. Personally I still dont think its at all required but if that's what you wish to do i hope that layout might help you as I was able to model that out with a 3D prin of just the back plate middle with using foam to seal a path around the fan cutout up either side and to the top creating a air pathway that forces it to travel up and through the fins and out the top as with no small fans in the way the fan was able to cool freely and I didnt even test with a Noctua fan, it was just a basic but good quality fan, the Noctua fan though perform at least 30% better due to the static pressure it can generate and that helps force that air through the fins and out the top of the Ally. But definitely you should add a fan control, I just used a micro dimmer switch, not ideal but all i needed to test this. That all said maybe some paint to make the fan and grill be white? Also make sure to put on better quality Thermal paste on the SOC. Ok I need sleep as I work overnight tonight as well so I will post Watt and Fan profiles at some point tonight after I remake them. @@cppctek

    lol after you asked this I’ve had a ton of folks ask diff places and now I want one. I actually have come up with a few mods and tweaks that should work well. Also I figured out since the screen is bigger there’s more pixels to push as well as it being slightly better resolution than the ally of course the fps in some games may be off but I’ve got a few ideas for that and could make it the rog ally killa for real 😧 I really hope I can find some one who wants to loan me one to mod for them so I can do some content around it. I’m going to ask around if someone wants one tweaked and tuned and possibly a few mods done with no labor cost at all just would be fun to have experience with one to show people what’s the peak potential out of it.
