Cool huge crossing. I had been there before a few years back. This railroad crossing here is huge, but not the biggest I have seen in the U.S. The biggest railroad crossings I saw so far are in California and Florida.

I’m well familiar with that LRT crossing. Used to work right near there.

Most cities with light rail have heavily guarded crossings.... four quadrant gate system, multiple bells, and multiple lights. Unlike heavy rail, light rail is much more prone to damage if hit by a large, heavy vehicle. And, of course, cities want to keep their light rail riders as safe as possible.

1:05 What? A bell on top of a pedestrian street crossing? Can it really go on top of one of them street crossing light poles?

That's a pedestrian railroad crossing not a pedestrian street crossing that's why

At this spot there are about 36 r🛑d lights, including on the barriers 54. Probably the most highly secured lightrail crossing in the 🇺🇸 and the w🌍rld. But the heavy-railroad crossing record holder in the w🌏rld is probably in Beaverton, Oregon. 60 r🔴d lights , plus barrier-lights = 72 !

Kind of ridiculous how the traffic light turns green right after the crossing activates. They should really be in sync with each other.

It turns green to clear the crossing in case there is traffic stopped on the tracks.
