Huge Power, Jumps & Skids (Ford Ranger Raptor 2023 review)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Chasing Cars 4WD expert Sam Young drives the new Ford Ranger Raptor twin-turbo V6 ute on-road and off-road to see whether it takes the crown as the best ute ever sold in this country.

The new Ranger Raptor is a serious improvement on the previous car, particularly when it comes to engine. The 2023 Raptor has a 292kW (391 hp) 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine, rather than the old biturbo four-cylinder diesel that produced 157kW.
Rivals for the Ranger Raptor are thin in Australia - but perhaps the super-ute class (incoming Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado) and also the V6 diesel-powered Ranger and Amarok.
As always, we don’t accept advertising from car manufacturers, and we’re powered by Budget Direct - so this is an independent, honest review of the Ford Ranger Raptor.

Finally a raptor with an engine that justifies the extra cost and suits the styling and modifications

I love the look of the Raptor, and finally an engine that deserves to be in it, would have been nice for Ford to offer a performance version of the V6 3.0L diesel as an option, great review it looks awesome, I want one, will wait a while to see how any reliability issues go before committing, probably the last ICE ute I will purchase before an electric version.
Best review I’ve watched so far. Cheers 👍

I don't understand the issue with the 2.5t towing capacity, honestly 3.5t is way over any safety margin for small dual cab utes anyway, no matter which brand

Most of them have brake controllers.. and the 3.5t capacity is only recommended with a braked trailer.... because you're right, 3.5t is too much for them

The king of the Bunnings carpark till one of those Rams or big Chevy's park next to it.
Just a heads up. Intro images are Euro spec with sailplane and tub rails. Also a heavily detuned engine
I really like this truck hopefully the price won’t be ridiculous. Ready to sell my wrx already haha
Its the rear head rest bent? Its the only new Ranger that is styled correctly at the front, has the body coloured strip across. Prefered the extra alcantara on the seats in the previous model.
What does ChasingCars need? More Sam Young! He needs to be on the screen way more

Dude !! The E shifter?? You don’t like it?? I love that thing. It’s out of the way of the cup- bottle holders, so when u rest your arm on that puppy your not getting your Missus water bottle jabing into your forearm 😡 and that thing shifts back into park every time u forget to put it in to park and turn of the motor. Love your vid Bro but the shifter is sweet 👍🏼😎
Great job Sammyboi! Best review by far from someone I can trust. Ordered one after watching this :)
Did you say the towbar / tow package is a factory option? Think I’ll be pissed on pickup, thought it was standard.
Why do some of the Raptors have the rollbar at the front of the bed and some don't? I was told by the dealer the fake exhaust sound and the noise cancellation is not included in the Raptor.
I am thinking about the new amaroks coming out or the rangers, undecided????
Please review the new wildtrack 2L

Can you lower suspension?
With all this tech I’d like to see the price of some of these parts outside of warranty. Wonder how much a replacement shock absorber costs $$$
Same raptor 300HP in europe. Wonder if it's just a soft limitation.

@@chasingcars you had the car..physically. Enlightened indeed.
Love your reviews normally guys, but to have a 2 & 1/2 min section on the tray and only show the actually inside of it for about 3 seconds was whack.
All that suspension only to be held up behind them in my little car every time they want to drive over a speed bump at a snail's pace 😂
Extra power to drag people off the lights towing a JetSki trailer .
I love everything except the digital noise in the cabin. That's such a pos feature!
That prop-rod Ford!!! SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO GO AWAY!!!!!
Now the negatives: You mentioned the low mounted alternator. Very bad. Air intake at front of grill, first thing that dips into a river crossing is the front grill. Second battery position - where??? One fuel tank at 80 litres, not sufficient for this big country. The body is too wide for threading in between trees in the high-country. The thirsty petrol engine would require that the tub area is filled with fuel cans to have the range to attempt a desert crossing, ie Madigan Line. So, somebody else has to carry all of your other kit! Fast, sport ute, the hype is certainly there - however, given the above, where do you actually use it? Private tracks? An expensive fad that will fade in 2 years. Now, if there was the diesel option, twin fuel tanks and an uprated load rate - you couldn't build enough of them!
@audoinxr6372
Жыл бұрын
Most reviews are getting 14L/16l per 100km. Thats same if not better than ya average LC anyway. Intake issues are no different to any other 4x4 from factory. Its no wider than any of the flares and 0 offset steelies 4x4s out there too. Biggest negative is probably that stupid 10 speed and the electric fuckin everything to be fair.
@120downunder

There is a diesel, buy the wildtrak, this Ute is not intended to be like every second Ute you see on the road
May I suggest you are sitting way to far back in the drivers seat for safety. Look where race car drivers sit. They certainly don’t sit so far back that their arms are straight. They sit nearly with the steering wheel on their chest. It allows for quicker reaction times. I am bigger then you and I have plenty of room in the back for even me with the right driver position
I will never buy an electric car Ute etc .. diesel first petrol second. Go Ford
Real world Fuel use overlooked or instructed not to say. Poor form either way.
Who is this peanut?
Haha no manual. What a piece of crap
Twin turbo is never the way to go, twice the heat, twice the troubles, twice the complexity, the 2.0L twin turbo fizzled quick, this will do the same, dont be buying one of these 2nd hand 2 years down the track, huge fuel pressure, just so many potential problems.

Just buy a Toyota then you'll happy for the rest of your life. Of course reliability goes down when thing is stuffed with so much technology. But it's a tradeoff people willing to accept to have a more exciting car. If people want a reliable ute they should buy a Hilux instead.

Where did you get the 31l / 100 , I used to own a XR6 Turbo Ute, and even under hard driving returned no worse than 17L / 100 ? people buying these are not buying them because they want replace their shitty Prius, it's a performance Ute so there will be a fuel penalty for that, if you don't like that, then you go for a different model with a diesel option, this vehicle is not for everyone, but at least it's there to choose if you want it, and who cares about your overpriced / lack of performance Hilux with engine problems, oh and don't forget there is a $80K plus Hilux which just gets a few extra stickers and ugly as plastic crap all over it, yeah that's a real bargain Toyota 😂😂🤣🤣
