Sunni…the fact that u said that the Dustin vs Hooker fight is irrelevant blew my mind! That is literally a top 5 fight of all time for me ain’t no newbie in this MMA space, I go back to before the 1st Ultimate Fighter and MMA Is the ONLY sport I watch… AA, u can’t really hate on Dustin giving Benoit a shot at the top bc he said he feels like you’ve gotta hold your position the top of the rankings like Eddie Alvarez did for him back in the day which I agree with. Justin did the exact same thing when he beat up Faziv a couple of fights ago!

I didn't say the fight was irrelevant, what I said was that Dan Hooker is not a high enough caliber fighter to put on a list to compare competition with Islam. It was an AMAZING fight, I personally wouldn't say top 5 fights but I respect that take.

Maybe me saying top 5 is recency bias for me bc I just saw it for the first time recently and was blown away! I heard folks bring up Lawler/Macdonald all the time as one of the greatest ever but this one blew that fight out of the water and the fact that it was in an empty Apex is was like the Justin/Tony fight that u mentioned bc u could HEARD just how hard all of those shots were landing AND the fact that - that fight probably took a few years off of Hookers life in the long run but he definitely was all heart and unlike Tony was landing plenty of fight ending type of shot in Dustin as well! 🔥

Change in the sport hinges on two options ALL IN fighter boycott which so unlikely, or federal intervention like the Ali Act, which is also improbable, especially if Dana's political status could veto if Trump gets reelected. When the Ali act was passed it was during the time when it was the national past time to get legislative backing, which MMA doesn’t have.

Ufc standards off fighter can only go downhill gradually... and unfortunately it wont be noticed off this gradual decline in standard by the naked eye off the casual. The new fan will just jump on the bandwagon... we will never attract top top tier athletes like the good old days off pride fc!
