Dan, I didn't have my scales on the kayak with me that day, but I did take it home to cook. It weighed 3lb 4oz after I had gutted and prepped it the following day. Although it was a big fish, it was very thin, and I reckon if I had caught it later in the year, it would have been alot fatter and heavier.

Thanks. Yes Ian, Salcombe. Lovely part of the world. Shame I don't live closer. Fished there for quite a few years, but still alot to learn about the place.

Amazing fish. Might be a daft question but is it possible to spot flatties on your fish finder?

Thank you Greg. I have never seen flatties on the fish finder, but with plaice fishing, it's more about using the fish finder to find sandbanks or mussel beds where the fish will be hiding, and its great for that.

Hi Lee -Glad you enjoyed watching the video. That day, I was using a pair of Conoflex QT kayak rods. They are no longer made, but there are some lovely rods out there for a great price these days. For that type of fishing, look for 6-12lb class rods - eBay is always worth a look - you get some great bargains on there. Have fun, and stay safe.

Do you drift fish or anchor?

I use multiple GoPro sessions for video and a couple of digital cameras for stills. The one mounted up front is a Richoh WG-60... the waterproof remote is an O-RC1.
