I would start Lane Hutson on the second powerplay with Arber Xhekaj. The second unit has lacked true offensive power all year because it doesn't have any true star power on there in the first place. It's been filled with mostly utility players. But I wouldn't want to remove Xhekaj who's had a some success because of his accurate wrist shot. Let's also not forget that Dach should be back in the line up, pushing Newhook down to second unit. Having a good set up guy like Newhook to feed Hutson should give some interesting results.

I love this player and I’m sure he’ll be a very good player with my habs but, he doesn’t look 5’10 on the ice. I believe he’s taller compared to draft day but god does he looks small 😂 I repeat tho, I’m sure he’ll be amazing

Yea, what the above comment said, and hutson has bargaining power. If he holds out he can be a Free agent. If you’re the Habs you just give him what he wants

This is positive news but I am concerned that he is too light to compete in the NHL at this time. In his last game against Denver, he got pushed off the puck a few times and had some trouble getting around the opposition. He needs at least one or more years in Laval to develop strength and learn to play the pro game.

If he's too small for the NHL he will be for the AHL also. Do you think dwarves are playing in the American League? There's 25 to 30 years old men in that League.

He will next year. But can play a game or 2 with the big club to get a taste. No harm in it. ( And I want him to spend all next season in the AHL partnered with Reinbacher. Perfect partners if I do say so myself )

It's crazy seeing how the kraken over the past 2 years have kept moving Wright up and down to not allow him to burn a year off his ELC , now compare this to Montreal where they don't care 1 bit about burning a year off that ELC ,these things matter hugely to players drafted by teams . Players see what Seatle is doing and don't like it. Welcome to Montreal lane

The problem is NCAA has different rules than juniors does when it comes to contracts. This is the best news we could get because if lane goes 3 years without signing, then he could just walk.

Different rules for CHLers and collegiate athletes. Wright was considered a CHLer last year which allows him to play 9 or fewer NHL games and have an AHL conditioning stint without turning pro (which would initiate his contract). He isn't a CHLer this year and is playing out the first year of his contract, mostly in the AHL. Hutson was an amateur and not allowed to sign a contract so long as he wanted to play collegiate hockey. As soon as he signs his contract, he turns pro and therefor, his contract doesn't slide. Edit: Wright's ELC is going to slide a 2nd time despite playing 50+ AHL games because he was technically a CHLer given special permission to play in the AHL. 19yo generally aren't allowed to play entire AHL seasons.
