Yes it's very fast and amazing technology. So glad the riders have it. Sometimes it has deployed on violent tank slappers as well, but better safe than sorry haha. Also it's good Lorenzo has Alpinestars. I believe they're the only ones offering protection from the shoulders all the way to the lower back.

Unfortunately I’ve crashed like this before heading into a freeway…cracked my left tibia diagonally and my right wrist was shattered with many wrist bones turning into dust!…I’m so grateful to God that I’m still alive…. What caused my accident were cold tires….it was March in Northern Nevada and still quite chilly…was out dining with a friend when she wanted to leave early…she got in her car and I got on my bike “gixxer 750” it wasn’t planned to leave so early…. In the midst of my frustration that we were leaving early… I got complacent and instead of zig zagging or braking to heat up my tires, I told myself, I’ll just do it on the freeway and rip it….as I was taking the turn right before entering the freeway I low sided….as I was going down I maxed out the rev on my bike… I knew I was revving the bike from my grip as I was low siding…the problem was my brain wasn’t fast enough to realize that as I tried to correct the bike as I was low siding and scrapping my left side on the asphalt…I totally forgot about the rear wheel spinning so fast and maxed out by the rev..that when I attempted to correct the bike and stand it back up as I was sliding…my bike flipped me instantly as the rear wheel touched the asphalt…. Sending me flying over my bike with my arms out to break my fall…..I was wearing full gear..motorcycle helmet, safety jacket, pants, boots, gloves, and on top of my safety jacket with padding I was wearing my upper body armor vest and still ate it!… The impact of my chest hitting the road was so hard that fluid instantly came out of my mouth and nose as my body impacted the ground….every ounce of air came out of me!…although all the air in my lungs escaped me the moment of impact…because I had my jacket and safety vest on….I was able to catch my breath as soon as my initial breath was released…. I was curious as to what kind of fluid came out of me that as soon as I got up and wiped my nose on my jacket…I found that it was mucus mixed with blood…and yes, that fast!…I would’ve had serious bodily injury and internal bleeding if it weren’t for me wearing my gear…. I say all that to say this….please my dear fellow riders…my Brothers and Sisters….wear your gear!!!..and don’t ever let any moment ever let you get complacent, please?!….and another thing that I did was so stupid….I got up from my wreck lifted my bike, told my friend to meet me a few miles at a parking lot to park my bike…. At this point I new I broke my wrist and that my leg was effed….my friend was still traumatized and panicked after witnessing me fly off my motorcycle…so to not let her panic…I asked her to drop me home and that I was fine…she said I wasn’t and why was I limping and stuff…I told her I got scratched up and my leg was sprained…. She dropped me off and asked if I needed help, I told her I was fine….and that I will head to the hospital in the morning…let me tell you I wasn’t fine!…it was so tough walking up the stairs into my apartment….and what did my prideful self do when I got in my apartment?…I talked myself into going to the hospital the next morning and I went to sleep…. Not so fast…my accident was around 8 at night, went home around 10 and went to bed..woke up around 3am with the most annoying sensation ever!!!!….Nevermind about the broken bones on my wrist and leg….it was the pressure on my wrist from all the blood being stuck because all the broken bones in my hand…I turned on the light to look at my right wrist and it looked like a d-cup sized boob was on my wrist…discolored purple and blues I knew I had to go into the hospital before it got worse… So I headed to the hospital then lied to the doctor that I just crashed…I ended up admitting I wrecked the night prior..after practically getting scolded..the doctor grabbed my wrist and tried his best to realign the bones that I had left in my wrist…and yes….it sounded like crunchy cabbage… If ever you get into an accident…..go to the hospital right away!!!…don’t be a prideful idiot like I was….take care ride safe and God Bless Y’all -One ❤️ Love

You really think so? *I thought the opposite:* if he had incorporated some basic arm circle, _to not land on your neck,_ it would have been a much softer more progressive landing. Instead, he slammed (no progression) full body weight from a 6ft+ drop onto his shoulders and back of the head. Without airbags, that could have easily been a broken neck, popped out ribs in the back, compressed disks in the spine, whiplash.... I would be surprised if some of that happened despite the airbag. PS on the arm circle, that is not the same thing as "trying to catch yourself." The basic concept is if you have any sideways motion at all and make a circle/hoop shape with your arms above your head - it rolls you down progressively and not on your head/neck as opposed to slamming the ground in a single high force impact. For motorcycling, I would suggest doing so with closed fists to avoid catching a finger.

I wonder what the protocol is for high-side- air-ejection ? Do you spread arms, coil up, spread out, go limp, hold face guard etc. ??? Anyone ???

I usually see riders bring their arms in towards the chest when they can control it. But it's extremely hard depending the crash. I would think that the closer you bring your appendages to the centre of your body (like a ball) the less chances of breaking more bones.. I don't really know though I'm not a "human crash specialist" so take it with a pinch of salt.

As a rider, seeing high-sides is so gut-wrenching. It's looks so unnatural I can't imagine what it must feel like to get whipped like that. Low-sides suck too but much more preferable
